"As recent studies indicate approximately 50 percent of teens have sex before leaving high school, we recognize that we cannot dumb down the health curriculum by stripping it of scientifically accurate facts in order to appease a small group composed of many whose children do not even attend Montgomery County public schools," said Christine Grewell, a founder of a group called Teachthefacts.org in Silver Spring.

Grewell's group supports the new curriculum. "Along with most Americans we reject the idea that particular theological doctrines should be taught in the classroom," she said.
