Blogger Migration Update

You will notice that there are still no comments on the "old" posts, that is, the ones from before we made the switch to the new domain. They said it might take a few hours, well it has been two days now. I submitted a report to Blogger, and just now received their response:
This is a known issue. Slight delays in comment syncing are expected and only temporary. This will resolve itself shortly, and I assure you that all comments will re-appear.

The old comments still exist at the old URL, so I know they can be saved. How to put them back in place on the blog, I don't know. There are more than two thousand posts, most of them had some comments, some had more than a hundred. I will breathe a sigh of relief when those zeroes go away.

[Update, day three: Oh, great, now I see there is a comment on this post, but it doesn't show unless you click on "Post a comment," after you click on "1 Comments." I hope Blogger gets their act together quickly.]

In so many ways, it has been a relief not to have to put up with the rants and raves of the various "Anonymous" posters. An oasis of calmness and sanity has resulted and has been much appreciated.

Did you lose your Google Juice?

.... you probably will once Google figures out all your links have been broken.

I migrated both blogs to Self-Hosted Wordpress earlier this year btw. Setup a seamless auto-direct from the blogger site, and kept my Google Juice for about 2 weeks .... then it started plummeting. Its slowly coming back up as the google spider indexes the new archives.

I had to do it because Haloscan changed hands and the new owner's commenting system sucked. Wordpress comments are bad ass. You can configure them with 3rd party plugins to do anything. Even allowing commenters to post images and video ...... which here ..... uh, might not be a good idea. ;-)

Where's them clickable smilies at anyway?
