CRC Joins the Citizens Advisory Committee

Today the MCPS Board of Education announced that it was appointing Ruth Jacobs to the Citizens Advisory Committee for Family Life and Human Development, to represent the Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum.

The CRC had been holding out, claiming that they didn't need to obey the school board's policies for membership. The Board had required each organization to put forward three names, and said previous citizens committee members could not serve again. The CRC's previous nominee, Retta Brown, was ineligible as she had served on a previous committee. We don't know what went on behind the scenes, but it appears the Board is letting CRC get on the committee with one nominee, as they did with PFOX.

Dr. Jacobs speaks at nearly every school board meeting. Her graphic descriptions of sexual practices and the pathologies that can result from them have won her some notoriety in the county. I'm sure the committee can benefit from her expertise on sexually transmitted infection.

Wonder how long it takes her to talk of swirlies and such. Hopefully she can pull it together and not discuss her patients all the time. Not sure they know they are being used.

"Her graphic descriptions of sexual practices and the pathologies that can result from them have won her some notoriety in the county."

Or in that large segment of the county population that regularly reads the rantings on the TTF blog.

"sexual practices and the pathologies that can result from them"

Christine just cited a study yesterday that shows its possible that a same-sex attraction pathology can result from certain sexual practices. Is that cilly or what?

That anon likes to read their own rantings of course. That is why they post here as CRC will not let them. Retta has that board all locked up.

Misconstruel of the day from CRC...

BOE Accepts Dr. Ruth Jacobs as CRC representative to the Citizens Advisory Committee

Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum (CRC), in the interest of expediting the important work of the Citizens Advisory Committee(CAC) and allow the CAC to proceed in accordance with Maryland Law, has withdrawn Henrietta Brown, its representative, in response to the BOE first agreeing to accept as CRC representative Dr. Ruth M. Jacobs as the CRC’s representative. The June 27, 2005 Settlement Agreement guaranteed a representative from CRC a seat on the new CAC committee; however, the BOE subsequently enacted a requirement that previous Advisory Committee members, such as Mrs. Brown, could not serve on the new Advisory Committee. This requirement continues to be disputed by CRC as a violation of the Settlement Agreement. After considerable reflection, however, CRC, in consultation with Mrs. Brown and Dr. Jacobs, determined that the best interests of the Montgomery County Schools and the children of Montgomery County would be served by naming Dr. Jacobs as its representative and allowing the Advisory Committee to proceed lawfully with its important work.

"If Dr. jacobs can retrain herself and discuss the facts about STIs, then she can make a good contribution. I, and others, have said this in the past. If, however, she continues her lies about transpersons, for instance, I will be right there along with the others."

I think, as a matter of political expediency, the final curriculum will not mention transexuals. The inclusion of the topic would inspire a parents' brew that would make the last protest seem like a cup of English tea.

Kay's focus on petty procedural matters demonstrates, as always, her lack of knowledge about any matter of substance.

Oh my anon forgot all the CRC yelping at not getting on new CAC till now. How many times did they cry that BOE was changing the rules, etc. MUCH TO DEAF EARS WHICH IS WHY JACOBS IS ON NOW. Wonder how Jacobs likes knowing CRC took her on just to get seat on new CAC? Johnny the empty threat Garza could help them none so Jacobs who was basically begging to get on CAC finally got a seat.

Poor anon...third group as usual. Keep dreaming anonymous.

"Personally, I would welcome such a debate, because, as I've said, the fundamentalists have zero legs to stand on with respect to gender identity."

I don't think it's the fundamentalists, or any other religious group, that would be most opposed. It would be the man on the street. And the school board is concerned with what the man on the street thinks. There won't be a debate on this.

While we're on the subject, I don't think there are many fundamentalists in Montgomery County.
