BP Live Feed Again

Okay, they capped that oil well, the spewing is stopped. There are questions about how well it will hold, nobody knows exactly what is going on through the system, but for now it looks good. I thought Vigilance readers might like to check the live feed. As I'm looking at it now, it's just some machinery underwater. Every once in a while a piece of junk floats by. It's nothing like it was.

You can go to the original source HERE, if you prefer.

Use the Play (triangle) and Stop (square) buttons on the player to turn the stream on and off.

The text in the blockquote is from their site.

Please be aware, this is a live stream and may freeze or be unavailable from time to time.

Let's all hope the disaster is uneventful from here on out. No one is saying that the spilling has ended, they are monitoring the pressure and watching very closely for leakage and other problems. Even if it has been stopped, there is a lot of clean-up to do, a lot of environment has been destroyed for decades to come. This needs to be a wake-up call for everyone who cares about the earth and about the survival of future generations.

[ Update: The feed was working when I posted this, but I have not seen an image for more than a day. I'll leave this here in case it comes back. JimK ]

hope they leave it

it's kind of cool having a cam in the water that deep

you always hear about researchers taking robots down to deep places and discovering unknown life forms

maybe something will show up

does anyone know if this is the deepest cam available?

Aunt Bea is sooooo dumb!!

Here's a poll done by the Third Way, a leading moderate think tank, by the Benenson Strategy Group, which has worked for past Obama campaigns:

Only 25 percent of voters said that they think that if Republicans regain a majority it will signal a return to Bush's economic policies. By comparison, 65 percent say that a Republican Congress would promote "a new economic agenda that is different" from Bush's.

A generic conservative approach, pitting a leader "who will start from scratch with new ideas to shrink government, cut taxes and grow the economy" beats one committed to sticking with Obama's policies, 64 percent to 30 percent.

One question asked which path voters prefer to jump-start private-sector job creation and economic growth -- new government investments or cutting taxes on business?

Cutting taxes on business won 54 percent to 32 percent.

This sounds to me like Ronald Reagan returning to whomp Barack Obama.

All the Republicans have to do is reject the Bush label and bring Reagan back for an encore.

Sarah Palin has a new cause – the proposed mosque near Ground Zero in New York.

On Sunday, via the social networking site Twitter, the former Alaska governor asked "peace-seeking" Muslims to understand that the mosque will interfere with recovery from the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

"Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing" Palin tweeted from her Blackberry.

Earlier Sunday afternoon, Palin tweeted, "Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn't it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate."

Six minutes later, Palin asked New Yorkers to reject the mosque. She wrote, "Peaceful New Yorkers, pls refute the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers site is too raw, too real."

Sarah should repudiate being stupid enough to use the word "refudiate."

text messaging has a high rate of key slippage

the messages aren't supposed to be professionally managed

you're making your side look bad again

Right, her finger slipped from the "p" all the way over to the other side of the keyboard where the "f" is.

It's either that or she's a moron.

Actually, she's a moron either way.

oh, yeah

a moron who bucked the "old boy" network in Alaska to become one of the most popular governors in the country

who was nominated for VP by a major political party

who has a good shot at being nominated by that same party next election

who has millions of followers who lined up around the block to get an autograph on her best-selling book

who has a forum on a national cable news show to promote the views of her followers

who raised a family while working fulltime

she must be a moron

she doesn't vote Democratic

I hope you're right, Anon, I'd love to see Sarah Palin run for President. I think the Republicans would be Real Smart to invest everything in getting her elected.

Very good point. Sarah Palin is a lot like Ronald Reagan. Like Ronald Reagan if he was a MILF airhead quitter, anyway.

when Obama moved into White House, was he a quitter on his Illinois Senate post?

(actually, there's a good case that he never really STARTED on that job)

similarly, Sarah took an opportunity to magnify her influence for the principles she's committed to

that's upsetting to liberals, of course

she scares the bejeebies outta 'em!
