Prediction: It Will Get Worse

Joe Biden is staying calm, appointing people, getting briefings, treating his ascension to the Presidency as a normal thing after a normal election. This is the forty-sixth time we have done this, transitioned from one President to another, and it has become a sort of matter of routine. The exiting President leaves a note in the desk, rides with the new guy to the inauguration, there are meetings between the incoming transition team and departing staff at many levels. It is complicated to replace the CEO and senior leadership every few years but it is a traditional and healthy part of American democracy and Biden is treating it as such.

Trump doesn't want to leave. It is not clear why. He does not show any interest in doing the job he was elected to do, but he does not want to leave, and so he is making this as painful and ugly as he possibly can. He is encouraging violence and disruption, hinting at civil war and a military coup, he is setting up the Executive Branch agencies so they will barely be able to function once Biden comes in. He is appointing people to ridiculous positions, stirring up conflict with other countries, trying to start purely political investigations, siphoning huge amounts of money out of the system.

He still has not admitted that he lost the election, and insists it was rigged. And here is the beautiful thing: he has every right, under Constitutional law, to challenge any election result that might have been fraudulent in some way. Trump can use the judiciary to challenge anything improper that might have happened in the 2020 election.

I have lost count, but he has gone to court now more than sixty times over this, including at least two appeals to the Supreme Court. He has had a good share of Republican judges and even judges that he himself appointed. They would love to help him out, you just know, they like him and would be happy if they could catch those libtards cheating in the elections, if they could prove that Trump actually won "BY A LOT," as he is saying. By and large, the judges are on his side. More than sixty times his lawyers have written up narratives and lists of evidence, names of witnesses and descriptions of what they witnessed, video of trucks in the night and people using flash drives and marking up blank ballots, and more than sixty times the court has been unconvinced. The witnesses are incoherent morons. The videos show ordinary ballot-counting processes. The complaints are trivial and unrelated to bias or "rigging" of the election. Still, any time the Republicans think they have found something they have the right to go to court, to follow the Constitutional procedures and demonstrate that our system of government is robust and serves to maintain justice and order. And so far it's working.

Plus, Trump's people get all the air-time they could ever hope for. "Access journalism" means that reporters and media outlets will let powerful people say anything they want without challenge or criticism, and Trump and his people have been in the media constantly, alleging improprieties. All they would have to do is hold up one piece of evidence, one photograph or recording or a piece of paper that shows a vote was changed or entered illegally. That's all they need, one piece of evidence to turn the American public to their side. If they can't convince the courts, they can at least try to convince us citizens. And they can't. They don't have anything that holds up, even in the eyes of Joe Blow sitting at home in front of his TV with Fido on his lap.

The inauguration is a month away. So let me make a prediction. I am going out on a limb here, so hear me out. Just based on my gut, on my finely honed political instincts, on my encyclopedic knowledge of history and inside-baseball political maneuvering, I am going to predict: it's going to get worse over the next month.

Trump has given up on the coronavirus pandemic. He will not even mention it, will not call a meeting, will not push to allocate funds to fight it. He is focused on one thing, and that is the election that he lost. It was an honest, fair election, even according to his own people that he sent out to find problems with it. In order to "win" he has to overthrow the system of democratic voting that we have had in place since 1789. He has to overthrow the American government and the American way of life. That might sound bad to you and me, but the Republican Party is soundly behind him, they do not recognize the validity of our electoral system, they will not acknowledge that Joe Biden has won.

It will get worse before January 20th. Trump is planning a "wild" demonstration in Washington DC on January 6th, the day when the Electoral College vote count is finalized and the results are certified by Congress. He is stirring up violence and talking about civil war. If there is to be a civil war now, the only issue is that the loser of the election does not want to admit he lost. It is nothing more than that, a rejection of the rule of law, a rejection of the Constitution, a rejection of the American way of life. Trump has gone off the deep end mentally and has surrounded himself with raving maniacs who are detached from reality. They don't want what the country wants, they don't want the heritage that has been handed down to them by history. It's going to get bad.

Increasingly, courts are rescuing churches from the attacks on the religious freedom from secular governmental authorities.

A federal court ruled in favor of a church in Nevada in its longtime quarrel with Democratic Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and his clampdown on houses of worship in the name of COVID-19.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decided that Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley, which is in Lyon County, Nevada, is allowed to hold in-person services at 25% capacity, which reversed a lower court ruling maintaining that they must abide by state mandates capping church gatherings at 50 people.

“The court has finally made it clear that the government has a duty to respect the First Amendment, and it can’t treat churches like second-class citizens,” said senior pastor Garry Leist in a video posted to Facebook.

“We’re so thankful to the Lord for what He’s done,” Leist added. “We’re singing praises to the Lord today.”

Leist assured his viewers that the church would abide by common sense safety standards, and that “we’re going to be able to take and come back into fellowship without fear, and that’s amazing, and that’s something that we’ve been praying for and asking God to grant throughout this entire process.”

“It’s a blessing to know that the court has recognized that going to church, well, it’s essential,” Leist continued. “It’s something that people need in a time, especially in a time such as these. And so, be encouraged, know that God is absolutely moving forward. Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley is singing the praises of the Lord on behalf of our fellowship, as well as all of those throughout the country. God is good.”

“What’s going to happen now is that the federal court of appeals is going to issue an injunction that is going to cause this to back down to the trial court for there to be action taken on our behalf,” Leist also said.

Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley was the subject of a Supreme Court decision in July that ruled against them, before Justice Amy Coney Barrett had been added to the court. The church had sued the state in May, arguing that it was unfair for churches to be capped at 50 people while casinos and gyms were permitted to operate at 50% capacity.

I mostly agree with you here, Jim. But let's discuss a few points to keep the blog interesting.

Yes, Trump needs to stop the talk about martial law and hints of armed resistance. And, Chris Christie is right. Michael Flynn should be kept away from the White House. But, there's zero chance Trump will get away with it. The hype is hype.

The Dems did create a lot of mess by encouraging their followers to all cast their by mail. This has long been recognized as an area with potential for fraud. It's hard to believe any irregularities happen on a scale to change the overall vote but it is possible on the electoral college level. Still, the time to change the law is before the election, not after. Trump tried and failed, through any ordinary and legitimate political process.

"Trump doesn't want to leave. It is not clear why."

did you consider his egotistical personality?

"he is setting up the Executive Branch agencies so they will barely be able to function once Biden comes in"

that's no big deal

Obama tried to do that too

"siphoning huge amounts of money out of the system."

let's hear some more about that

"And here is the beautiful thing: he has every right, under Constitutional law, to challenge any election result that might have been fraudulent in some way. Trump can use the judiciary to challenge anything improper that might have happened in the 2020 election."

which is what he's done

so, what's the complaint?

"He has had a good share of Republican judges and even judges that he himself appointed. They would love to help him out, you just know, they like him and would be happy if they could catch those libtards cheating in the elections, if they could prove that Trump actually won "BY A LOT," as he is saying. By and large, the judges are on his side."

These people aren't particularly beholden to Trump. To secure the votes of thise who believe in the Constitution, he made a promise. He kept this campaign promise to delegate the judicial nomination process to organizations that advocate for the Constitution. Dems ranted that he was appointing judges that would hand the election to him. They were wrong. It's time for them to apologize for this slander.

thus, you can never be proven worng

"Trump has given up on the coronavirus pandemic."

he has set up a network to distribute the vaccine, the CDC continues to issue guidance for state and local officials, and Fauci continues to try and entertain us

what more were you looking for?

"He will not even mention it, will not call a meeting, will not push to allocate funds to fight it."

he has advocated getting the bill passed many times

"In order to "win" he has to overthrow the system of democratic voting that we have had in place since 1789. He has to overthrow the American government and the American way of life."

well, he hasn't done that yet, although I don't think has ever understood the American way of life

everything about him is attack anyone who disagrees with you mercilessly

it's a Survivor reality show mentality

"That might sound bad to you and me, but the Republican Party is soundly behind him,"

no, they aren't

they are temporarily humoring as long as possible so he won't interfere with furthering the agenda as much as possible over the last few weeks

if they didn't he might start vetoing things and withdrawing judges

"It will get worse before January 20th. Trump is planning a "wild" demonstration in Washington DC on January 6th, the day when the Electoral College vote count is finalized and the results are certified by Congress. He is stirring up violence and talking about civil war."

the best idea is to stay away from Washington that day and let the police keep the demonstration from getting out of hand

a bunch of counter-protestors, at this point, accomplishes nothing

Don't listen to the "experts" when they tell you to forsake your families for the holidays. They aren't:

As COVID-19 cases skyrocketed before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Dr. Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus response, warned Americans to “be vigilant” and limit celebrations to “your immediate household.”

For many Americans that guidance has been difficult to abide, including for Birx herself.

The day after Thanksgiving, she traveled to one of her vacation properties on Fenwick Island in Delaware. She was accompanied by three generations of her family from two households. Birx, her husband Paige Reffe, a daughter, son-in-law and two young grandchildren were present.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has asked Americans not to travel over the holidays and discourages indoor activity involving members of different households. “People who do not currently live in your housing unit, such as college students who are returning home from school for the holidays, should be considered part of different households.”

Even in Birx’s everyday life, there are challenges meeting that standard. She and her husband have a home in Washington. She also owns a home in nearby Potomac, Maryland, where her elderly parents, and her daughter and family live, and where Birx visits intermittently. In addition, the children’s other grandmother, who is 77, also regularly travels to the Potomac house and returns to her 92-year-old husband near Baltimore.

Also, don't believe the crap about Thanksgiving causing a surge. Cases are down 20-40% across the upper Plains and Midwest since Thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure they didn't observe Thanksgiving at a lower rate than the rest of the country.

Recently, the moron calling himself an "expert", Sanjay Gupta, said "people shouldn't think just because they got the second round of the vaccine that they could stop wearing a mask. They can't stop wearing a mask until 100% of people are vaccinated, probably in the fall."

Hey, Sanjay, could you elaborate on your "thinking"?

We could all use a laugh right about now...

Outgoing Attorney General William Barr said he saw “no reason” to appoint a special counsel on potential election fraud or the tax investigation into the son of President-elect Joe Biden.

Barr said Monday in his final press conference that the investigation into Hunter Biden's financial dealings was “being handled responsibly and professionally.”

“I have not seen a reason to appoint a special counsel and I have no plan to do so before I leave,” he said.

Barr also told The Associated Press in a previous interview that he had seen no evidence of widespread voting fraud, despite President Donald Trump's claims to the contrary. Trump has continued to push claims even after the Electoral College formalized Biden's victory.

Trump has been weighing whether to push the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel, which would make it harder for Biden to shut down either investigation. But it’s not clear how he would do it without buy-in from Justice officials

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "what I can not understand is why Dems say they defer to the scientists and don't do it scientists have told us again and again that this virus is transmitted by touch things and yet we have all these businesses required to wipe everything down constantly"

Of course Democrats are listening. What scientists have told us changed with new information, that's how science, not relgion, works. You lie when you say "again and again", it was just discovered that little transmission occurs from touching things.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "scientists say the only way to get the virus is to be in the breath space of an infected person not wearing a mask for an extended period of time"

You mean like at church? Conservatives are spreading COVID, refusing to follow any rules or guidance.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "scientists assure us that young kids rarely contract the virus and don't transmit it and yet schools all over America are shut down.".

There's lots of adults in the schools, opening schools has increased infections.

JWC said "in Wuhan province, albeit a very militaristic environment, they immediately went to enforced lock downs forced isolation"

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "actually, they left people who became ill to die and wielded their apartment doors shut, leaving them to get better on their own or die".

Trump intentionally infected and killed people with his massive unprotected rallies. That's one thing about authoritarian goverments, they can get an epidemic under control by forcing mitigation measures. Trump is behaving like an authoritarian anyway, if he had even just told conservatives to wear masks, and social distance and stay home this would be almost over.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "we never needed to do that"

With over 300,000 dead you should have. Your callous disregard of the healthcare workers run ragged by this epidemic shows who you are.

Wyatt/Regina said "we sent hospital ships and built big tent hospitals in parks but they got little use".

Little use because of Trump mismanagment that leaves other facilities with severe shortages. The health care system is on the edge in dozens of states with health care workers committing suicide because of the pressure.

JWC [authoritiarian wuhan province] with In 4-6 weeks that turned the curve."

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "we really have no idea if that's true they aren't exactly a bastion of transparency"

We have a very good idea, you can't hide deaths on the scale that the United States has had. Wuhan province did far, far better than the U.S. is doing, Trump, authoritarian that he is, could have quickly turned the curve too, instead 300,000 dead.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "indeed, several individuals [in Wuhan province] who discussed conditions with the media were killed".

Trump could turned the curve as fast as they did in Wuhan without killing media people. The point is a massive effort worked whereas Trump made none.

"Yes we are a free society and do NOT chose to be in that environment. Granted Please, however, look at the freest country in the world and compare its progress to Wuhan. A vast difference We bring up the subject of freedom ,civil liberties and rights. which yes we should all be vigilant in protecting."

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous "it's perfectly clear that complete shutdowns aren't necessary to "protect" even the WHO has declared this"

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "California, which has has the most strict and longest lasting shutdowns, is a horror show right now"

Because conservatives won't abide by mitigation measures! What do you expect when Trump made it a point of pride and loyalty to hold big gatherings without masks and social distancing!

JWC said "There is also the subject of social responsibility. That's the one thing Western societies tend to forget ,They want the rights and freedom without honoring the responsibly. Following prescribed social directives is NOT surrendering your rights. its asking you to accept the price. FknTwist [sic - it was JWC], doesn't know the difference between "asking" and "telling".

When conservatives refuse to do what's needed we have to stop asking and start telling. If Trump had done that hundreds of thousands wouldn't have died.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "there is an extreme burden on government to justify why they need to override civil liberties for health reasons that doesn't exist here"

You exploded for years over 4 dead at Benghazi! 300,000 needlessly dead clearly justifies lockdowns, or at least masks and social distancing, which conservatives refuse to do.

An absolutely idiotic attempt at gas lighting. China and New Zealand and South Korea locked down their entire societies. Trump could have done it like New Zealand and South Korea which have done far better than the States but he is an utter failure.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "never before have healthy people been told not to leave their houses".

100% wrong AND stupid. This has happened by necessity everywhere there's been a much needed lockdown - you can't tell who is and isn't sick without the massive testing and tracing Trump refused to do.

JWC said "To party with a group of your friends. exposing yourself weighed against exposing family members and health workers to COVID Where is the fairness in that"

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "it's fair because the risk is minimal and family members and health workers are also enjoying the benefits of freedom"

OMFG! Health workers are being run ragged and begging people to stay home! "enjoying"?! With the epidemic exploding the risk is obviously high!

"Just tax the churches to pay for universal health care. It's what I would do."

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "churches are groups of people why should they be taxed twice because they have religious beliefs?"

They consume public utilities to carry out their business and shouldn't be subsidized by the government to terrorize people with the fear of eternal torture.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "if anything, they should pay less because their lifestyles result in fewer health problems than average.".

"pay less"? - they pay nothing! Like any other business they should pay for the services they use, that's only fair.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "decades ago, they pushed through privacy provisions in HIPPA they did this so no one would know they have AIDS""

They faced losing jobs and homes when people discovered they had AIDS, this was a justified defence.

This kind of lie is how the Nazis dehumanized the Jews.

That's a lie, health workers have no concerns about that. And Trump not only made no effort to do testing and tracing, he shut it down when it was being done.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "further, they broadly engage in unprotected sex with strangers and have continued to do it during the pandemic".

As do and have heterosexuals. If you're concerned about promiscuity amongst gays why don't you encourage them to marry and be monogamous?

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "since h*exuals put so much strain on our health system, maybe it's only fair for them to pay more for health insurance"

Sure, why not and by that token married gays would have to be exempted from paying more. What do you say?

Obama never politicized the Justice Department for personal gain and Biden has been clear he won't either. Unlike corrupt Trump, Biden won't be telling the Justice Department who to go after or leave alone.

Trump Declares War on Statistics as He Pivots to Human Sacrifice

David Rothkopf

No statistic ever lay gasping for air, feeling as though their chest were being “crushed by an anvil.” No one ever wept for a statistic that died alone beyond the touch of family or friends. No one ever mourned a statistic.

And yet at this moment of national trauma, our president can’t seem to muster even a poor imitation of compassion for the victims. What is more, rather than waging a war against the disease that is causing such pain, he is waging one against the statistics, fearing—and quite rightly—that the data will tell for all time the story of his utter failure as a leader.

Trump has declared himself a wartime president in the midst of this crisis. But he has been clear from the beginning that his war has been the one he has fought all his life: against truth, against facts, against anything that might offer glimpses into the reality of his warped character and serial failures.

Republicans who went to CPAC — certainly the people who appeared on stage to speak — were absolutely the sort of batsh*t insane politicians who have opposed church/state separation, supported Christian Nationalism, fought LGBTQ rights and abortion rights, and rejected science.

And that was before Trump.

Since that time, the Republican Party has become even less interested in supposed conservative principles. They don’t even have a platform anymore. They just function as a Trump-worshiping MAGA cult, ignoring or denying his blatant corruption, defending his actions no matter how egregious, pushing anti-science conspiracy theories, and actively opposing the democratic foundation of this country by trying to suppress or discredit the votes of those who don’t usually support them. They’re literally standing by and saying nothing as Trump attempts to invalidate an election he lost in every way.

You ain't seen nothin' yet!

No garden parties will be held in the Senate after inauguration!

Republicans plan to make President-elect Joe Biden’s Cabinet nominees “run the gauntlet” at their confirmation hearings, their conference chair said Sunday.

Referring to the slower pace of confirmations for President Donald Trump’s nominees compared to those in previous administrations, Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wy.) said Republicans “are not going to forget what happened with President Trump's administration and the delayed process that went through it.”

“So, it's not going to be a garden party,” the No. 3 Senate Republican said on Sunday. “these nominees are going to have to run the gauntlet.”

Some of the nominees already announced by the president-elect will face a steep climb in their confirmation process. For instance, Neera Tanden, Biden’s pick to lead the White House Office of Management and Budget, was the target of broadsides from congressional Republicans who attacked past tweets from the chief of the liberal Center for American Progress.

Barrasso said the nominees announced so far look like a “third term of the Obama administration.”

Insiders Increasingly Fear Trump’s Final Days In WH

CNN reports:

President Donald Trump has turned to a fringe group of advisers peddling increasingly dubious tactics to overturn the results of the election, creating a dire situation that multiple senior officials and people close to the President say has led to new levels of uncertainty at how Trump will resist the coming end to his tenure.

“No one is sure where this is heading,” one official said on Monday. “He’s still the President for another month.” Trump has mostly shunned those working inside the government, leading to growing fears of how he may lash out in the four weeks he has remaining in the White House — or at how he may resist leaving the building come Inauguration Day.

The attorney general said that he agrees with the assessment by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that the Russians were likely behind the hack into the third-party software developer SolarWinds that allowed access to government agencies and raised fury in Congress over whether such an attack amounted to an act of war.

How Trump Bullied GOP Reps And Election Officials To Overturn Democracy

Over the next month, the president would conduct a sweeping campaign to personally cajole Republican Party leaders across the country to reject the will of the voters and hand him the election.

In his appeals, he used specious and false claims of widespread voter fraud, leaning on baseless allegations that corrupt Democrats had conspired at every level to steal a presidential election.

In total, the president talked to at least 31 Republicans, encompassing mostly local and state officials from four critical battleground states he lost — Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Pat Robertson has a unexpected message for President Donald Trump: He should forget about overturning the election.

On “The 700 Club” Monday, the evangelical leader and former Republican presidential candidate discussed Trump’s slim and unrealistic chances of nullifying President-elect Joe Biden’s win and suggested the president face reality.

Robertson praised Trump’s ability to raise money and draw crowds but also said the president “lives in an alternate reality,” adding, “He doesn’t lie ― to him, that’s the truth.”

Robertson then said that Trump is “very erratic,” which makes dealing with him “a mixed bag” before suggesting the president’s day is done.

“I think it will be well to say, ’You’ve had your day and it’s time to move on,’” he said.

America has been paralyzed by death and fear for nearly a year, and the politicization of the pandemic has made things worse by adding misinformation and vitriol to the mix. With vaccines finally being administered, we should be entering a joyous phase. Instead we endure still more inflammatory rhetoric and media distortion.

Americans need to understand three realities. First, all 50 states independently directed and implemented their own pandemic policies. In every case, governors and local officials were responsible for on-the-ground choices—every business limit, school closing, shelter-in-place order and mask requirement. No policy on any of these issues was set by the federal government, except those involving federal property and employees.

Second, nearly all states used the same draconian policies that people now insist on hardening, even though the number of positive cases increased while people’s movements were constrained, business activities were strictly limited, and schools were closed. Governors in all but a few states—Florida and South Dakota are notable exceptions—imposed curfews, quarantines, directives on group gatherings, and mask mandates.

Mobility tracking verifies that people restricted their movement. Gallup and YouGov data show that 80% to 90% of Americans have been wearing masks since early August. Lockdown policies had baleful effects on local economies, families and children, and the virus spread anyway. If one advocates more lockdowns because of bad outcomes so far, why don’t the results of those lockdowns matter?

Third, the federal government’s role in the pandemic has been grossly mischaracterized by the media and their Democratic allies. That distortion has obscured several significant successes, while undermining the confidence of ordinary Americans. Federal financial support and directives enabled the development of a massive, state-of-the-art testing capacity and produced billions of dollars of personal protective equipment. Federal agencies met all requests for supplemental medical personnel and hospital-bed capacity. Officials in the Health and Human Services Department have told me there are no unmet requests for extra resources.

The federal government also increased the protection of the elderly during late summer and fall. This effort included an intensive testing strategy for nursing-home staff and residents based on community activity, new proactive warnings to the highest-risk elderly living independently, millions of point-of-care tests and extra personal protective equipment for senior living facilities, and new alliances and financial incentives to improve nursing home infection control.

The federal government also expedited development and delivery of lifesaving drugs, such as novel antibody treatments that reduce hospitalizations of high-risk elderly by more than 70%. According to HHS, more than 200,000 doses of these monoclonal-antibody drugs have been delivered to hospitals in all 50 states. Under Operation Warp Speed, the federal government took nearly all the risk away from private pharmaceutical companies and delivered highly effective vaccines, hitting all promised timelines.

In this season when respiratory virus illnesses become more common and people move indoors to keep warm, many states are turning to more severe restrictions on businesses and outdoor activities. Yet empirical data from the U.S., Europe and Japan show that lockdowns don’t eliminate the virus and don’t stop the virus from spreading. They do, however, create extremely harmful health and social problems beyond a dramatic drop in learning, including a tripling of reported depression, skyrocketing suicidal ideation, unreported child abuse, skipped visits for cancer and other medical care.

It adds up to a future health disaster. “For younger people, the lockdowns are so harmful, so deadly, there’s really no good justification,” says Stanford’s Jay Bhattacharya, especially when considering their extremely low risk from Covid-19.

States and cities that keep their economies locked down after highly vulnerable populations have been vaccinated will be doubling down on failed policies that are destroying families and sacrificing children, particularly among the working class and poor.

The media has done its best to misinform the public with political attacks about who is to blame for this pain and misery even as it diminishes the great achievement of the new vaccines. The decline of objectivity in journalism has been evident for years. Now we see that even respected scientific journals, which are supposed to vet and publish the best objective research, have been contaminated by politics. Social media has become the arbiter of allowable discussion, while universities intimidate and suppress the free exchange of ideas necessary to uncover scientific truths.

It is not at all clear that American society with its cherished freedoms will survive, regardless of our success in defeating the pandemic threat.

Trump personally pressured more than 150 Republicans to overthrow election for him, report says

Donald Trump launched an expansive campaign to convince more than 150 Republican officials to overturn election results in his favour, a new report claims.

A Politico report outlined the unprecedented steps Mr Trump took to convince Republican lawmakers at various levels of power to use their authority to overturn election results in his favour.

In one instance, Mr Trump contacted Monica Palmer, who sits on a board that confirms the election results for Wayne County, Michigan – the state's most populous county.

Shortly after the call, Ms Palmer said she wanted to rescind her vote to authorise the election results, which showed that Joe Biden had won.

Though her efforts were ultimately in vain, they were just the beginning of Mr Trump's attempts to sway lawmakers into fraudulently naming him the election victor.

If Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous were honestly concerned about gays getting infected with diseases they'd be encouraging gays to enter into a monogamous marriage. That they want to ban gay marriage shows their real motivation for wanting to control gays is the christian bible says gays must be put to death.

Gays are their symbol for everything the minority evangelical christians hate about American society like environmental conservation. Being hostile to gays is how they identify each other as members of their tribe.

Trolling like Wyatt and Regina do correlates with sadism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism.

They dishonestly pretend their war on gas has a secular reason while hiding that an abusive religion is their real motivation. That's corrupt, that's immoral. If you want to make the argument that gays should be forced out of society, forced to "live in society's shadows" at least try to do it honestly, admit your abusive religion is the reason why you do this.

Wyatt and Regina are not good people and perhaps 25-30% of the human population are right wing authoritarians who have greater psychological tendencies to aggression and hostility over cooperation.

There is no difference between the innate psychological tendencies of the people in Nazi Germany and any other society on earth, past or present. We need to constantly be on guard for democracy and conservatives like Wyatt/Regina are advocating let Trump take every shot at destroying democracy that he wants. The United States has come perilously close to an authoritarian takeover and it isn't over yet, especially with significant numbers of Republicans being enthusiastic supporters while the majority who remain silent give tacit consent.

Regarding Wyatt and Regina pretending their objection to gays is that this will allegedly reduce disease (the opposite is true, society setting unrealistic boundaries for sexual behaviour results in uncontrolled anonymous sex in the shadows which spreads disease), the truth is gayness is a fundamental part of the survival strategies of human and animal species going very far back in evolutionary time.

Trying to make gays disappear is impossible, destructive to human society, and breeds a more violent society. Its a longish read, but I explain why gayness persists throughout eternity no matter how hard people try to destroy it.

December 22, 2020 12:44 PM
Blogger Priya Lynn said...

When you set the unrealistic boundary that people can't fulfill their same sex sexual desires you force most to become outcasts. Then they think "If even one gay sexual encounter makes me an outcast I'm no worse off if I have hundreds of sexual encounters, I'm still an outcast".

If evangelical christians like Wyatt and Regina were honestly concerned about reducing gay promiscuity they'd be encouraging gays to adhere to a more realistic boundary, monogamous same sex marriages. That evangelical christians want to ban monogamous gay marriage shows this is not about reducing disease and promiscuity, its about scapegoating society's most vulnerable out of a primal desire to war on another tribe and take their resources.

That evolutionary psychology helped tribes survive and compete with each other back in cave man days, but its counterproductive in our modern technological society where all are fates are intertwined and we need global cooperation to resolve global threats.

There are many good people amongst the evangelical christians who have been mislead by the more craven amongst you. You know this evangelical war on harmless lgbt people hurts everyone, speak out and condemn the anti-lgbt policies of your fellow tribe members.

Trump had a personal interest in the companies supplying PPE, he drove the cost sky high so he and his friends could profit.

The pandemic continues to rage out of control because Trump not only did nothing to stop it, he actively made it worse by holding large gatherings with no masks or social distancing and encouraged conservatives to do the same.

President-elect Joe Biden has tapped former chief of staff Bruce Reed to join his incoming White House team despite vocal progressive concerns about his record.

Reed, 60, will serve as the 46th commander-in-chief’s deputy chief of staff, the Biden transition team announced Tuesday morning. His name was included on a list of six senior White House appointments.

Reed has been a Biden adviser since the 1990s, when he worked in the White House as assistant to the president for domestic policy. It was in that capacity that he worked with Biden, then a senator, on the notorious 1994 crime bill, which jailed a generation of blacks for decades for minor offenses.

“I’ve known and admired Bruce for over 20 years. We worked closely together to pass the crime bill in the 1990s and I’ve frequently sought his advice and counsel in the years since,” the then-vice president said in a statement after announcing Reed’s appointment as chief of staff.

It was in that position, which he stayed in until 2013, that he worked on the Bowles-Simpson Commission, a bipartisan task force organized under President Barack Obama to address the recession that urged massive deficit reductions.

Most recently, he served as a senior adviser to the Biden campaign, ringing alarm bells for progressives who did not want to see him added to the administration.

As Reed’s name was being floated as a potential pick to run the Office of Management and Budget last month, Justice Democrats, a group dedicated to electing progressives, began circulating a petition calling on Biden to not “repeat Obama’s mistake” by working with Reed.

The petition was backed by progressive heavyweights, with “Squad” Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) all signing on.

Who doesn’t support abolition, as in the abolishment of slavery? In today’s woke context, however, abolition suggests we abolish police and prisons. To be sure, there is much that needs fixing in policing and prisons. Abolition, like so much in the woke lexicon, latches on to a concept deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness, in this case ending slavery. I call this the coattail effect, whereby a woke ideavirus rides on the coattails of a more legitimate social concept, gaining greater acceptance along the way. It seduces well meaning people who (rightfully, in my view) want to see changes to drug policy or cash bail or aggressive policing tactics, etc. into embracing something completely absurd—that we should do away with police and prisons. Some locales, like Minneapolis, even went through with abolishing the police!

Cultural Appropriation

LeRhonda S. Manigault-Bryant, a professor of Africana studies at Williams College, says that the term “refers to taking someone else’s culture—intellectual property, artifacts, style, art form, etc.—without permission.” One wonders whom in a particular culture has the standing to “give permission” to an outsider? To whom should I pay proceeds for wearing a Sari? No one in Maylasia asked me for permission to eat a McDonald’s hamburger. Anyway, this concept demonizes the utterly normal, healthy, necessary and inevitable cultural mingling and melding that happens in every time and place in human history where two or more cultures come in contact with one another. Cultural sharing is actually good, not bad, for pluralistic societies. I cannot believe anyone takes cultural appropriation seriously. Yet they do!

Brown Complicity

This concept suggests that Brown people have often refused to distance themselves from and have sometimes been complicit in white supremacy and “anti-Blackness.” Brown complicity demonizes Asian and Latino groups who have found success in American society. Some academics have gone so far as to say that the reason why some Asians have succeeded is whites needed to show that they weren’t racist so they propped up Asians. Of course, this fails to answer why Asians have outperformed whites, their supposed benefactors. The concept is used to warn away anyone tempted to make cultural arguments for why some cultures are more successful than others. "Brown complicity" is especially odious in scapegoating and demeaning Asians and “white adjacent” Latinos.

Equity

This concept sounds totally acceptable (like equality, but “better”!), which is why it’s wokified form is so dangerous. The woke revamping of the equity concept goes much further, suggesting that any differences in group outcomes is prima facie evidence of discrimination. Under this line of reasoning, for example, the fact that black males commit more crime is proof of a lack of equity in law enforcement. And by the same logic, if it were consistent, the fact that Asian Americans do better than whites should be proof of inequities toward whites (which, of course, is absurd). Equity is also used by woke idealogues to mean that everyone should be given an equal share of the social-economic pie, rather than everyone should be given a fair shake. Taken to its logical conclusion, an equity policy would turn economic and political liberalism on its head.

Research Justice

This concept suggests that scientific research institutions should empower marginalized voices in the scientific process, cite minority research, and provide marginalized groups the “capacity and resources to use and wield all forms of its knowledge to effectively advance their agenda.” Where does one begin? Any politicization of the scientific process and deviation of the meritocratic imperative will only curtail scientific inquiry and discovery. We cannot and should not subject scientific research to diversity requirements. Moreover,we do not do science to “advance an agenda.” We do science to learn the truth. This corrupted approach to science would over time make America and other Western countries uncompetitive on the world stage. Peter Boghossian quipped that our competitors the Chinese certainly won’t be seeking marginalized Uyghur voices in scientific research. That is not to say America shouldn’t be investing in, recruiting and mentoring minority scientists. We can and should.

Until and unless enough thoughtful, liberally-minded people fight back, nutty woke concepts will continue to take root and metastasize.

While the right wing is complaining about too much "wokeness" in liberal circles, their right flank has been taken over by white supremacists and fascists, often becoming the loudest rightwing voices.

They feel they have been normalized and mainstreamed by Cheeto Benito in the oval office, and consider his cue to the Proud Boys of "stand back and stand by" as their indication that they will be called to perform their "duty" -- which in some circles includes a race war.

As for all the complaints about "defunding the police," it appears that finally got some attention - the number black people getting murder by police and captured on cell phones has dropped noticeably since this past summer. Funny how the police start to pay attention an behave better when it looks like they might lose money.

This is a lie told by a Trump lacky. Trump has repeatedly attacked the Centres for Disease Control pressuring them to water down mitigation rules and to lie about the severity of the pandemic Like all government departments Trump has turned the CDC into his own personal propaganda arm destroying its once global reputation for excellence.

Trump personally opposed testing and tracking because he didn't want the numbers of infections to rise. Trump never did anything to mitigate the pandemic, he downplayed and minimized its seriousness, he mocked masks and social distancing which has caused an exponential increase in the rate of infections. The Trump administration announced many half baked ideas for mitigating the pandemic but never significantly carried through on any of them.

Estimated U.S. COVID-19 Deaths Due To POTUS Inaction

In January 2020, the Trump administration was advised that immediate action was required to stop the spread of COVID-19. According to NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, “there was a lot of pushback” to this advice. President Trump declined to act until March 16th. Experts estimate that, had mitigation measures been implemented one week earlier, 60% of American COVID-19 deaths would have been avoided. (For further reading, click here).

More than a month after Election Day, the votes have been counted and the results of the presidential contest are complete. Analysis of those results, though, has only just begun.

A number of conservatives, for example, have started to break down vote totals by county.

Students for Trump took to Instagram on Dec. 6 to post a comparison of county-level wins by President-elect Joe Biden in 2020 and former President Barack Obama in 2008.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CIb4HxXlcTh/?utm_source=ig_embed

"Did Biden win more votes than any president in history? He won a record low of 17% of counties," the meme reads. "Biden won 477 counties while Obama in 2008 won 873..."

"Something doesn't seem to add up," the organization added in the caption

Jan Morgan, a conservative activist, posted a similar meme on Facebook on Dec. 6.

"Trying to figure out how Biden won a record low of only 16.7% of all U.S. counties yet supposedly won the election with the most votes in history," the post read.

"Must be new math," she added in the caption.

Ultimately, the fact that Biden and Obama were victorious in a relatively small number of counties is not relevant to their popular vote numbers.

That's because there is an incredible amount of variance in county population size, per a report by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Some counties have minuscule populations – for example, Hawaii's Kalawao County has just 88 residents, and Texas' Loving County has 169 residents.

Other counties have enormous populations – for example, California's Los Angeles County has 10.1 million residents, and Illinois' Cook County has 5.2 million residents.

The same 2017 report by the U.S. Census Bureau found that more than half of the U.S. population lives in just 143 counties, or 4.3% of all counties.

Again and again Republicans spit on social distancing and mask wearing - this pandemic is their fault.

Deadliest place in America: Trump supporters shrugged off the pandemic, then their family and friends started dying,

As of Thursday, coronavirus has killed a higher percentage of Gove County residents than any other county in the United States: One out of every 132 people has died.

President Donald Trump won the county with 88% of the vote in November, and many of the residents, including the farmers who raise up corn and sorghum, are deeply skeptical of government and public health orders, often echoing the language Trump has used about mask-wearing and the pandemic's severity.

In August, just before the wave of positive cases began growing, Gove County leaders mandated everyone wear masks in public. They were forced to remove it two weeks later after a series of angry confrontations with their constituents. Around the same time, someone anonymously reported the county's COVID-19 information Facebook page as spam or fake news, and it was temporarily taken offline just as public officials were trying to warn residents of the danger.

you may have heard that the Trump administration has done nothing to fight the pandemic

that's such a lie!

1. Federal financial support and directives enabled the development of a massive, state-of-the-art testing capacity. More people have been tested in America than anywhere else. It's not even close.

2. Federal financial support and directives produced billions of dollars of personal protective equipment. We've made so much that we are supplying the rest of the world.

3. Federal agencies met all requests for supplemental medical personnel and hospital-bed capacity. Officials in the Health and Human Services Department say there are no unmet requests for extra resources.

6. Under Operation Warp Speed, the federal government took nearly all the risk away from private pharmaceutical companies and delivered highly effective vaccines, hitting all promised timelines.

7. Continuing directives have come from the CDC with guidelines for state and local policies to combat the virus

For their part, what have Dems and their media buddies done:

1. Told the public, at the beginning of the pandemic, that masks didn't work. Remember, this was at a time when the pandemic was still manageable. This may have have lead directly to the explosion of cases.

2. Forced nursing homes to accept contagious patients, leading directly, and unnecessarily, to half of the deaths recorded.

3. Encouraged people in high-rise apartments to stay inside, spreading the virus through common ventilation. You may remember the media mocking people who flocked to Central Park and DC mayor Bowser closing down the Cherry Blossom Festival. Walking around outdoors was, by far, the safest thing to do.

4. Discouraged people from going to beaches and parks, the safest places. You may remember the media mocking Florida governor DeSantis because he didn't close beaches at Spring break. Actually, beaches with salt in the air and steady breezes was the perfect place to avoid infection. Florida didn't have many cases until later in the summer when old people starting going inside to get out of the heat.

5. Undermined faith in vaccines, for political purposes. The fallout is still to come but Dems and the media defamed the researchers working on a vaccine but insinuating there were shortcutting safety under pressure from Trump.

6. Fought to keep schools closed, despite scientific evidence that kids have low positivity rates, have less severe cases, and don't often spread the disease.

7. Blocked the stimulus bill for months to blackmail Americans to pay for the accumulated deficits of blue states

It is now an established fact that the numerous naysayers who predicted President Trump could never deliver a vaccine this year were wrong. Thankfully, he did what they insisted couldn’t be done.

But the no-can-do crowd now has a second puerile act: a miserly and grudging recognition of the miracle Trump and his team performed. Those expressing pinched gratitude for a fact they can’t deny include the man who has reason to be the most thankful of all Americans.

“I think that the administration deserves some credit getting this off the ground with Operation Warp Speed,” Joe Biden said as he got his Trump vaccine shot.

“Some credit?” Then who deserves the rest of the credit?

Notice, too, that Biden can’t bring himself to say “President Trump.” It’s just the “administration” that deserves “some credit.”

This is stingy stuff. Imagine for a second that Trump had not pushed as hard as he did and instead allowed the vaccine research, development and human trials to follow the usual drawn-out process through the maze of approval checkpoints.

That would mean a delay of possibly four or five years, putting the vaccine’s debut near or after the end of Biden’s term. In the long interval, how many more Americans would have died from the coronavirus? Half a million more? A million, 2 million?

Whatever the additional horrific toll, the worst clearly has been avoided and many, many lives have been saved.

Think also of the economic impacts of going another four or five years without a vaccine. Repeated waves of infections would have been met with more lockdowns and restrictions, slashing or eliminating income to tens of millions of families and driving cities and states closer to bankruptcy. Even Washington’s money-printing presses would have had trouble keeping up.

There’s little doubt how Biden himself would have reacted absent a vaccine. He said during the campaign he would “follow the science” and if that meant national lockdowns and stay-at-home orders, so be it. One of his top advisers suggested a lockdown across the country lasting “four to six weeks” would control the pandemic and allow the economy to reopen.

Right, except remember that the initial lockdowns were going to be for just two weeks and that would be enough to flatten the curve. That was nine months ago.

In fact, the Trump vaccine is a great gift to the nation and the world, and that includes the Biden administration. Its agenda on issues like climate and tax hikes would have been dead on arrival without a way to reopen the country and give people hope that better and safer days are coming.

The vaccine also will allow Biden to pursue something like a normal presidency in that he will no longer be forced to shun most human contact because of his age and health problems. He campaigned primarily from his Delaware basement, but it is inconceivable he could have governed while being isolated in the Oval Office and locked down in the White House.

The vaccine will free him personally, so it shouldn’t be asking too much for Biden to acknowledge Trump’s contribution in a complete and honest way. But apparently it is asking too much.

Nonetheless, getting the vaccine successfully produced and with millions of doses now being distributed and administered, Operation Warp Speed must be counted as Trump’s greatest achievement as president. It is hard to believe any other modern commander in chief would have done it nearly as well, let alone better.

This was a triumph of the first order made possible by the sheer force of his personality. Trump’s relentless pressure on private companies as well as the sprawling bureaucracy turned what many in the left-wing media and even some in the medical community regarded as a pipe dream into a lifesaving reality.

It’s as if his take-no-prisoners determination was made for the moment, an impression that adds to the irony given that the pandemic wrecked the final year of his presidency and probably cost him four more years. In the run-up to the election, most voters gave the president a thumbs-down on his handling of the coronavirus, with an early October Pew poll giving Biden a 17-point advantage on the topic, despite the fact that the Democrat had not proposed anything significantly different from what Trump was doing.

Recall, too, that prior to the outbreak, Trump looked to be headed to almost certain victory largely on the strength of the roaring economy. Unemployment rates for blacks and Latinos hit historic lows, and wages were rising faster for workers at the bottom and middle than at the top.

The median family income in 2019 was the highest ever recorded at $68,703, an increase of 6.8 percent in just one year, according to Census Bureau statistics. That amount was more than $6,000 higher than median household income in 2016, the last year of the Obama-Biden administration.

But the fear and the political fear-mongering, combined with an economic freeze that cost upwards of 40 million people their jobs at some point, vaporized the president’s major strength.

His pledge to rebuild what had been destroyed failed to counter the argument made by Biden and the media that Trump had failed initially to grasp the seriousness of the outbreak and lacked heartfelt sympathy for grieving families.

So despite the fact that the vaccine came soon enough to save an enormous number of lives, it came too late to save Trump’s job.

Still, it was a remarkable achievement for which all Americans should be grateful.

Anonymous why do Dems hate the poor? said...

Democrats and their liberal economic advisers obsess about income inequality. Will someone please tell them that no act in modern times has widened the gap between the rich and the poor more than the lockdowns going on right now?

Diane Yentel, the president and CEO of the leftist National Low Income Housing Coalition, said, "The majority of the up to 17 million households at risk of losing their homes this winter are people of color."

Politico reported that minorities and the poor have "been more vulnerable to job and income losses from the ensuing economic crisis, in large part because Black and Latino workers are over-represented in the service industries wiped out by shutdowns."

James Parrott, an economist at the New York City New School, said that what the United States is experiencing is "the most lopsided economic event imaginable."

The National Restaurant Association said that 40% to 50% of restaurants may go bankrupt in the months ahead if their stores don't reopen immediately. Two of the U.S.'s most iconic restaurants, the 21 Club in Manhattan (pictured) and the Cliff House in San Francisco, announced they had closed their doors permanently after nearly 100 years of business. As they die, so do hundreds of jobs in these cities. The workers out of work aren't rich. Overall, 15 million middle-income people work for bars and restaurants.

Even Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and arguably the planet's richest man, complained that the lockdowns exacerbate inequality. With tens of billions of dollars of added profits, Amazon has been the world's biggest beneficiary from locking down brick-and-mortar stores.

For once, liberals are spot on.

Lockdowns are crushing the little guy. Even so, it is the Democrats who are pushing this anti-freedom agenda. Here are the 10 states listed by The New York Times with the strictest lockdown orders: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Washington. What do they have in common? Democratic governors.

Anonymous why do Dems, and TTF, hate science? said...

Liberals love to talk about following the science, but all evidence of the last nine months points to the scientific conclusion that lockdowns do not work to reduce deaths. Contact-tracing studies show that about half of those infected with the coronavirus got it despite staying at home. Only 2% of the transmission comes from restaurants, and almost none comes from outdoor dining, which is now idiotically prohibited in California.

The states that have not locked down their economy have lower death rates than New York and New Jersey. The unemployment rate for service workers in these states has skyrocketed to as high as 10%. In contrast, the red states, such as Utah and Florida, that are still open for business have unemployment rates for service workers as low as 4%.

Yet lockdowns are supported by politicians, university professors, journalists, technology executives, government employees, preachers, teacher unions and wealthy suburbanites. Their incomes are not in jeopardy. They won't wait in lines for a meal. Would teachers support school closures if they weren't getting a paycheck? How many people get tenure like six-figure salaried university professors who have been inoculated from the lockdowns they cheered on?

I don't see Yentel or many other "low-income advocates" protesting the lockdowns; do you? They think a government stimulus program of $1 trillion will solve the problems of the poor and the unemployed. Handouts are no substitutes for jobs and paychecks. Millions will fall through the cracks in any case.

There is an old joke about a boy who kills his parents and then throws himself on the courts' mercy because he is an orphan. The modern-day version of that story is liberals who have helped burn down the house and then piously complain about rising homelessness.

Arthur Laffer, Walter Williams, Milton Friedman and so many other great economists have always warned us: The poor and minorities are the first victims of anti-growth and boneheaded public policies. Tragically, we are once again learning that lesson.

So, why is the left all in for lockdown policies? These policies are doing just the opposite of what they preach: "rewarding wealth, not work." Perhaps the answer is that the left cares a lot more about power than the poor.

They most certainly are. Jeremiah 10:2-4 condemns what today are called Christmas trees as 'heathen'. You can't be a christian and have a "christmas" tree.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "h*sexuals pushed HIPPA privacy provisions so when they get AIDS they could have sex with innocent victims and spreading the AIDS virus; now, it hurts the effort to stop the COVID virus".

That's a lie, HIPPA in no way interferes with virus mitigation efforts. Gays most certainly aren't intentionally spreading AIDS, that's the same sort of propaganda Nazis used against the Jews. And you can see from their anger and lies Wyatt and Regina Hardiman have the same end in mind for gays.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "Trump let state and local officials decide what lockdowns were appropriate for their areas Dems howled about this".

Trump abandoned the states to fight COVID by thermselves at a time when national leadership was needed and hundreds of thousands have needlessly died because of it.

Wyatt/REgina/bad anonymous said "but the WHO actually favors this targeted approach now".

COVID is exploding in every state, every state needs to be targeted to get this under control.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "and because of the swift action of the Trump administration, we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel".

The pandemic is increasingly worse because Trump has done nothing but announce programs that were never implemented, just like you listed. Over 190,000 COVID deaths could have been prevented if Trump had acted in January instead of waiting until March. That does not include the hundred thousand or so that have died because Trump turned conservatives against all mitigation measures like wearing masks and social distancing. This is out of control because of Trump and his conservative supporters.

Wyatt/REgina/bad anonymous said "much like global warming, Democrats are always trying to find excuses for centralized governmental control of citizens".

The COVID epidemic required centralized control to have the best results. Instead Trump stood aside and let states bid each other up to astronomical levels for PPE and testing supplies while Trump and his friends profited from the price gouging companies.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous "most churches in America are distancing and requiring congregants to wear masks"

That's a lie, its been one church COVID outbreak after another Conservative churches leaders have mocked masks and social distancing and been outspoken about breaking safety precautions.

No Trump supporting churches have followed safe practices, they are just being asked to follow the same guidelines as businesses, and even that is too much for them. Conservative churches are intentionally spreading this.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "by that logic, gay sex should have been shut down by the government long ago most gays, not a handful, don't follow safe practices and, as a result, 36 million people have died!".

If you're concerned about gays and AIDS, why aren't you promoting monogamous marriage? Gay marriage bans increase the transmission of HIV. Never having sex is an unrealistic boundary that drives men into anonymous promiscuous sex that you falsely claim to oppose. You don't give a damn about people getting infected with HIV, you only bring it up to promote harm towards all gays.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "Anonymous for millennia, society has known that two genders are necessary to make a marriage".

Right, just like for millennia society knew evil spirits caused disease. We're smart enough now to know gay marriage is good for gays and good for society.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous deceitfully posted "Americans should have equal protection under the law; special protections for L or B or G or B or T is wrong!".

Gays don't have special rights, christians do, like not having to follow laws they claim their religion doesn't approve of.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "h*sexual marriage is an inherently sado-masochistic arrangement that should be discouraged by any civilized society".

You consider my husband and I to be in a gay marriage. How is our loving supportive relationship sado-masochistic? Society is saving $6k a year because my husband supports me. That should be encouraged in any civilized society.

That's a lie, Trump never delivered any vaccines, Pfizer developed their vaccine without any Trump money. The other companies knew basically what was needed from the start and quickly had vaccines, the Trump money really made no difference. Trump mocked wearing masks and social distancing turning half the country against the measures needed to save hundreds of thousands of lives.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "why do Democrats hate the poor? Democrats and their liberal economic advisers obsess about income inequality. Will someone please tell them that no act in modern times has widened the gap between the rich and the poor more than the lockdowns going on right now?".

Republican giveaways to the rich hurt the poor, not Democrats. Income inequality soared to record levels under Trump. Billionaires net worth tripled while minimum wage earners net worth stayed the same. Trump knew the seriousness of the virus back in December 2019 and kept it a secret until March, the income inequality from COVID is all Trump's fault.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "Diane Yentel, the president and CEO of the leftist National Low Income Housing Coalition, said, "The majority of the up to 17 million households at risk of losing their homes this winter are people of color."".

And Republicans have blocked the relief effort Democrats have been trying to get to the public. Black people are much more heavily impacted by COVID than whites, from the start racist Trump and Jared Kushner said they weren't going to do anything about COVID because it was mostly killing Democratic votes which they were happy about.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said " Contact-tracing studies show that about half of those infected with the coronavirus got it despite staying at home.".

You idiot, they got it from someone else who didn't stay at home! There has been virtually no testing or contact tracing since early on in the pandemic because Trump repeatedly opposed it and said he wanted less testing so the infection numbers would artificially look low.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "The states that have not locked down their economy have lower death rates than New York and New Jersey".

Wyatt and Regina tried to blame the increase in the wealth gap during COVID on Democrats when its always been republicans taking from the people creating the wealth and giving it to the rich.

Mitch McConnell put a $200 billion giveaway to the rich in the spending bill passed Monday night.

This is what Republicans do every time they're in power, they cut taxes for the rich and cut services to the majority of Americans. Bush's tax cuts were for the rich just like Trump's were and they both exploded the deficit.

Then when Democrats get in power Republicans magically decide nothing is more important than cutting the deficit in the most draconian way possible which also harms the poor and increases the wealth gap. The truth is Republican policies are worse for most people's money interests than Democratic policies

"The crazy thing is that despite the common assumption that the Republicans are the party for people primarily concerned about maximizing their money they are in fact the worst party for the vast majority of people's monetary interests. The "go to" policies of the Republicans are to cut taxes and government. During the time when the tax rate has been lowest its benefited the rich and increased their wealth but the average american has seen their share of the overall wealth drop or remain flat. Lowering the tax rate has only seen the gap between the ultra rich and the average American grow. Under Republican administrations, and allowing a one-year lag to provide for time for policies to have effect, unemployment has increased, while gross national product decreased. The opposite has occurred under Democratic control of the White House. This reflects the basic divergence in policy objectives of the two parties."

At this most magical time of year, I hope you’re sitting uncomfortably – perhaps listening to the problematic lyrics of your favourite banned carol, settling in for socially distanced merriment and bemoaning the impact of climate change on the chances of a white Christmas. Most people will agree that 2020 has been a stinker of a year, but for those of us on the front lines of the ‘TERF wars’ there have been some huge gains against the joyless gender fascists. It seems the green shoots of reason are finally visible.

At the close of 2019, JK Rowling tweeted her support for Maya Forstater, a tax consultant who lost her job at a think tank after she expressed the view on social media that human beings can’t change sex. The woke witch-finders had long been pointing at JK Rowling, though previously she had dismissed her signal of support for women’s sex-based rights as a ‘middle-aged moment’.

By June 2020, it seems the best-selling author had had enough. Needing neither the money nor the approval of the spotty urchins who had vowed to burn her books, Rowling responded to accusations of ‘transphobia’ in essay form. In 3,600 words Rowling explained why, as a woman who has suffered domestic violence, she wasn’t that keen on the idea of men being able to change legal sex with the magic words ‘I identify as’. Despite threats to cancel her and considerable harassment, Rowling emerged from the nightmare fantasy world of trolls and gender dementors as a real-world heroine.

The ideology of ‘gender identity’ extends far beyond social media. It has the backing of international NGOs, pharmaceutical companies and even the UN. But this year, grassroots activists all over the world came together to fight against the idea that identity trumps material reality. The Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights was founded by academics and activists in the UK and it now has sister groups pushing back against transgender ideology from as far afield as the Bahamas and Sweden. Similarly, the LGB Alliance, which was founded in 2019, has this year hit the mainstream, offering a challenge to the narrative of transgender lobby groups like Stonewall and inspiring others across the world (14 national groups and counting). The LGB Alliance advocates for the right to be same-sex attracted, something that ought not to be revolutionary in 2020 but is vigorously fought against by government-funded LGBT charities.

After innumerable delays, 2020 was also the year women and equalities minister Liz Truss gave the government response to the proposed reform of the Gender Recognition Act, a process which was prompted some five years earlier by her none-too-bright predecessor Maria Miller. Braving calls for her resignation and slurs on her character from at least one MP within her own party, Truss stood firm and announced that so-called ‘gender self-identification’ was not on the cards. Instead, she committed the government to more healthcare clinics for those experiencing gender dysphoria, a reduction of the fee to change legal gender and a halt to the medicalisation of children confused about their ‘gender identity’.

This new approach to transgender identities was also reflected in Department for Education guidance which now advises schools not to use external advisory groups which promote the idea that it is possible to be born in the ‘wrong body’.

There have also been some historic legal defeats for the identitarians. In April, Freddy McConnell, a female who identifies as a trans man, gave birth in the usual way to a baby and was then disappointed to lose an appeal to be registered as the child’s father. In other news, Christie Elan-Cane, who identifies as non-binary, lost a case at the Court of Appeal to have a gender-neutral option on passports.

Arguably the most significant victory for common sense this year has been the case of Keira Bell and ‘Mum A’ against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. After a thorough review of the evidence, at the beginning of this month High Court judges concluded that children are unable to give informed consent to the long-term impacts of puberty-blocking drugs and have effectively barred their use to treat childhood gender dysphoria. From Liberty to Amnesty International, the illiberal elite expressed their outrage with hastily drafted public statements that will probably age about as well as support for PIE and NAMBLA. On Newsnight, Susie Green, the CEO of children’s transgender charity Mermaids, was forced to admit that the claims about child suicide she has been irresponsibly spewing out at every opportunity (including in parliament) were ‘anecdotal’. It seems there may yet be an end to the Mermaid’s tale.

The claims of transgender activists have crumbled under the weight of public scrutiny from across the polical spectrum – from the thousand or so left-wing attendees of the Woman’s Place UK ‘Women’s Liberation Conference’ in February to Tory peer Baroness Nicholson. Some activists, like Posie Parker (aka Kellie-Jay Minshull), have faced arrest for allegedly breaching coronavirus laws while trying to raise awareness of the assault on women’s rights from transgender ideology.

While the massive strides made this year towards common sense are to be welcomed, the past 10 years of ‘no debate’ on the trans issue means that challenging trans ideology can still result in lost jobs, cancellations and social ostracisation. For some, like Keira Bell, the cost of unchallenged trans ideology has been personal and permanent.

Finally, it seems more and more people are on Santa’s naughty list, waking up to the reality that biological sex cannot be changed by clothes or pronouns any more than a pair of Christmas antlers makes one a reindeer. All any of us gender heretics, ‘nasty’ feminists and free-thinkers want for Christmas is for politicians to show some common sense and to publicly state that a ‘woman is an adult human female’.

Have a TERF-rific festive season!

And yet, 36 million people have died of AIDS and no one suggests we shut down homosexuality.

Why?

Because it's more important to allow homosexuals to engage in perverted hedonism than it is for poor children to eat?

Most of those people were heterosexual, do you want to shutdown heterosexuality too?

If you want to keep people from getting HIV, why do you demand policies (like a doomed attempt to "shutdown" gayness) that make HIV infection rates higher? Gay marriage bans raise HIV rates

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "Because it's more important to allow h*sexuals to engage in perverted hedonism than it is for poor children to eat?"

The typical dishonesty in that claim is proof you are bad people making the world worse. Trying to ban gay sex has always backfired and resulted in more disease and attempting to do so takes away resources from feeding children.

Forcing gayness underground as Wyatt and Regina want to do prevents gays from having open monogamous marriages and pushes gays into having anonymous sex with multiple partners to keep it secret (you can't live with the same man openly so you marry a woman and have anonymous promiscuous sex on the side). Forcing gayness underground makes HIV rates higher.

Evangelical christians don't oppose gays because they want to cut down on HIV transmission. They oppose distributing condoms and condom usage, they oppose gays because they're bigots who want to promote harm against innocent lgbt people.

Gayness wouldn't exist in every human society throughout history and in thousands of animal species if it wasn't fundamental to human nature and beneficial to our survival throughout our evolutionary history.

You look at isolated tribes that haven't had contact with modern technological society and I've never heard of one that wasn't accepting of gays as an important part of their hunter gatherer society.

Even Wyatt and Regina have themselves acknowledged that trying to ban gay sex creates bad sexual behaviour amongst gays. Years ago they said "Having broken societal taboos against sexual activity with those of their own gender, it's hard for [gays] to think of any compelling reason to follow any of society's other little rules [against promiscuity]."

Wyatt and Regina know their advocacy of lifelong celibacy for gays makes HIV
worse. They oppose gayness because they are bigots, not out of any concern for limiting STDs.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that Wyatt/Regina's comment above is true. What this then shows is that its a bad idea to set unreasonable boundaries on people such as asking priests to be celibate or gays not to have sex. People aren't designed to be non-sexual and its inevitable that some are going to be sexual and break this poorly thought out taboo. Then as you say they are already considered a wrong-doer so not being labeled a wrong-doer is less of an incentive not to engage in other valid taboos. For example, once the priest breaks his vow of celibacy out of the inevitable human needs, in his mind he can say he's no more of a bad person if he pursues sex with a minor. He's a wrongdoer whether he has sex with a consenting adult or a child.

Wouldn't it be better to avoid placing unreasonable restrictions on people, restrictions they're likely to break (such as no sex, be it gay or otherwise) to avoid the situation where they feel they have nothing to lose by further breaking, this time valid, taboos?

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous once said "AIDS is widespread among gays because of their dangerous behavior.".

By that logic then AIDS is more widespread amongst blacks than whites because of the dangerous behavior inherent in being black. You can't have it both ways and claim gays have higher rates because its bad to be gay but that higher rates amongst blacks aren't due to being black. The reality is that when you're an oppressed society, black, or gay, you are more likely to suffer social problems Just as in your example above, when tell a person they're bad because they're black, they have little incentive to not be bad by avoiding promiscuity.

Trump got elected by promising he knew how to cheat "the system"— now his voters can't believe he's failing

For years, many liberals have been confused by why so many Donald Trump voters seem unperturbed by all his criming and cheating. To understand Trump's supporters, it's important to understand that they don't believe he's a good person. On the contrary, the appeal of Trump from the beginning was a belief that he's a liar, a cheat, and a crook — but one who would implement his evil-doing skills towards goals Republican voters support, with triggering the liberals and snagging all the government goodies for their tribe at the expense of other Americans at the top of the list.

This wasn't exactly subtle. Trump repeatedly promised his supporters during the 2016 campaign that "Nobody knows the system better than I do." He often bragged about his supposed skills at buying off and working politicians.

"My whole life I've been greedy, greedy, greedy. I've grabbed all the money I could get. I'm so greedy," Trump crowed to an adoring crowd in early 2016. "But now I want to be greedy for the United States. I want to grab all that money. I'm going to be greedy for the United States."

The key is realizing that the typical Trump supporter, as I explained in the Standing Room Only newsletter, sees himself as in on the con. Indeed, the easiest way to hoodwink someone is to convince them that they're part of the conspiracy, that they're the ones getting one over on someone else. Trump's story for his supporters was that all of politics is a rigged game, but this time he was rigging it for them.

All of which explains why Trump supporters, like their idol, are losing their minds right now. They elected a man who assured them he knew all the tricks and could get away with breaking any rule. But despite all his efforts at stealing the election from Joe Biden — and all the money he's raised from them to do so — Trump is failing. Trump's voters never believed he was an honest man, yet they got snookered by the biggest lie of all: that he had almost god-like powers to cheat the system.

The result is a nationwide tantrum from Trump's devout followers, who are raging incoherently at every opportunity, stunned and mentally wrecked by the revelation that Trump does not, in fact, have some secret plan to undo the election he lost.

Our liberties are being cancelled and our religions are under assault. Note the new Human Rights Campaign to decertify any religious school which does not accept secular sexual values — and that many Democrat governors have kept casinos open while closing churches though the COVID-19 pandemic. Other Democrat-led COVID-19 policies have enriched the wealthy while crushing middle class small business owners (some 160,000 restaurants may close).

In this context, let’s talk first about the recent past and the presidency.

In 2016, there was an outsider candidate, who was rough around the edges and in the Andrew Jackson school of controversial assaults on the old order. When the candidate won, it was blamed on the Russians. We now know (four years later) Hillary Clinton’s own team financed the total lie that fueled this attack.

Members of the FBI twice engaged in criminal acts to help it along — once in avoiding prosecution of someone who had deleted 33,000 emails and had a subordinate use a hammer to physically destroy hard drives, and a second time by lying to FISA judges to destroy Gen. Michael Flynn and spy on then-candidate Donald Trump and his team. The national liberal media aided and abetted every step of the way. All this was purely an attempt to cripple the new president and lead to the appointment of a special counsel — who ultimately produced nothing.

We are told it is time to stop resisting and cooperate with the new president. But remember that the Democrats wanted to cooperate with Mr. Trump so much that they began talking about his impeachment before he even took office. The Washington Post ran a story on Democrat impeachment plots the day of the inauguration.

In fact, nearly 70 Democratic lawmakers boycotted his inauguration. A massive left-wing demonstration was staged in Washington the day after, where Madonna announced she dreamed of blowing up the White House to widespread applause. These same forces want us all to cooperate with their new president. Nothing I have seen from Mr. Biden since the election offers me any hope that he will reach out to the more than 74 million Americans who voted for President Trump.

Nine months of restrictions on social interaction is causing a mental health crisis in America. Churches are particularly well placed to deal with this and yet establishments that exacerbate mental illness, like liquor stores and casinos, have less restrictions than churches. Additionally, anecdotal evidence has fueled bias against churches. Most churches are following CDC guidelines. Here's an article that has a picture of a typical church service these days:

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/12/24/should_our_churches_be_open_for_christmas_this_year_yes_144920.html

The numbers of new cases of COVID-19 are at an unprecedented high. Our treatments are significantly better and the two new vaccines are now becoming available and are highly effective. Even though there is cause for optimism, our emergency rooms are strained and death rates particular among the elderly have risen to the level that we saw in March and April. Christmas is coming up. Should our churches should be open for worship?

As an infectious disease physician who has been providing care for patients in the hospital with COVID-19, and as a deacon in the Catholic Church, I have thought about this a lot. The CDC gives excellent guidance (which is available online) on how to decrease transmission of Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The 3W’s our key: wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands. The CDC makes it clear the same guidance will decrease the spread of the virus in churches, just as it does in supermarkets or drug stores or home improvement centers.

Prayer (alone and together), weekly worship, and the sacraments help us to stay healthy in mind and body and soul. There is now widespread recognition that the strain on our mental health going through this pandemic is enormous. Anxiety and depression are at high levels and treatment for mental illness is often hard to access. Suicide rates are high among all ages. There is excellent hard scientific data on the benefits of regular worship (usually defined as weekly in most studies) which provides social and mental health support and bolsters resiliency. “Going to church” should not be seen as a luxury or as nonessential but should be viewed as an essential community activity. Let’s face it… in many states, liquor stores and casinos have been considered essential while unsympathetic governors or mayors have deemed church to be “nonessential” and tried to close them down.

Most churches have been following the guidelines to decrease transmission conscientiously. Every other pew is roped off, worshipers wear masks, choirs no longer sing together, and good hand hygiene is made available throughout the church. Outbreaks have occurred in church settings when these guidelines were not followed. So these guidelines are important!

Going to church is not mandatory; it is a choice. Parishioners that are elderly or at high-risk or worried should not feel obliged to go to church. But for those that choose to go, it’s critical that the churches remain open. Kudos to our church leaders who have spoken out in the press or have filed lawsuits to insist that the churches remain open while they follow the CDC guidelines. Church is essential; please don’t close them down!

"One of the things that was genuinely appealing about Trump in 2015 was that he said something that everyone knows but that American politicians avoid acknowledging because it is too downbeat.

This truth is that the infrastructure of the richest country in the world – the roads, railways, bridges, dams, tunnels – is woefully substandard. Trump said this and promised to fix it. Polls showed that two-thirds of voters approved.

But he didn’t fix it. He presented a plan in 2018 for a relatively tiny $200 billion investment (supposedly to be supplemented by $1.5 trillion of private money). It went essentially nowhere."

Totally agree. You put a showboating TV star in power whose metric of success is adulation rather than accomplishment, and the dreary, un-sexy business of the country goes off the rails, sometimes quite literally. An interdependent economy requires infrastructure to thrive, but when it's merely an applause line with no plan or competency to make it work, we get four more years of entropy and decay.

Fox Poll: 42% Say Trump Among Worst Presidents Ever

Mediaite reports:

A Fox News poll finds that 22 percent of Americans believe President Donald Trump will be remembered as one of the country’s greatest presidents — while 42 percent say he’ll be remembered as one of the worst.

While his overall approval/disapproval rating remained negative and fairly consistent through most of his term, the number of Americans rating the economic trends as “poor” trended noticeably downward over the past year.+

When asked how they thought the country overall had fared over Trump’s term, 32 percent said better off, 55 percent said worse off, 11 percent said the same, and 2 percent said they didn’t know.

Christmas morning for us was lovely, we have two foster children, Jeffry, 10 who has been with us for 7 years - and we will ultimately adopt him - and Leo, almost 2 who will also stay permanently.
Jeffry, who I love dearly has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder, ADD, ODD & attachment disorder. Now that he is no longer a small child some of his behaviour is getting harder and harder to live with. So, he was incredibly impatiently waiting the hubby getting up so that presents from Santa could be unwrapped. Leo really couldn't have cared less and was just happy looking at the Christmas lights.
Present unwrapping itself was lovely. Followed immediately by screaming tears when Lego proved to be tricky to put together.
Afterwards we had eggs benedict, our Christmas breakfast tradition and took the dogs for a walk.
Life with Jeffry is a series of angry outbursts, he was neglected badly in his first two years and has a higher than average IQ. That results in him always looking for more things that will satisfy the hole in his soul. We try to keep him happy whilst maintaining discipline and family rules.

Boxing Day is actually an ancient tradition.
Our entire concept and traditions of Xmas evolved directly from the Winter Solstice festivals of Roman Saturnalia, Viking Yule and Germanic paganism; plus ancient Egyptian beliefs and a myriad earlier mythologies.
The early church just superimposed Jesus on top of everything and went “tah dah” it’s now Christmas.

December 26, 2020 2:48 PM

Dav**,

first of all, Boxing Day has absolutely nothing to do with ancient traditions

it's an English tradition where the servants get to take the day off on Dec 26, after having worked for the wealthy on Christmas and the wealthy would magnanimously give the servants "boxes" with unwanted gifts and leftover food and cash

as for your tired comment about how "Our entire concept and traditions of Xmas evolved directly from the Winter Solstice festivals of Roman Saturnalia, Viking Yule and Germanic paganism; plus ancient Egyptian beliefs and a myriad earlier mythologies", this is a common topic of preachers on Christmas to call the congregation back to greater reverence and less bacchanalia

indeed, the Puritans in England made Christmas celebrations illegal for this reason

and it wasn't commemorated by the Calvinist colonialists in America

but, truthfully, superficial pagan traditions of the winter solstice were altered and retained only as they served Christian concepts

so, you are wrong that "concepts" come from paganism

neither Cleopatra or Eric the Red would recognize our Christmas

but, who cares?

relax, and have a little fun

alas, nobody takes the offense you so dearly hope they do

One of about a dozen theories of where it came from, some of those going back to the Roman Saturnalia

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "but, truthfully, superficial pagan traditions of the winter solstice were altered and retained only as they served Christian concepts so, you are wrong that "concepts" come from paganism".

Oh, the modern concepts certainly all came from paganism: gift giving, taking a tree inside on the solstice and decorating it came from Saturnalia, Jeremiah 10:2-4 condemns what today are called Christmas trees as 'heathen'; Kissing under mistletoe is a pagan fertility rite (the white berries represent the sperm of Woden); Gift giving is a pagan tradition from the Roman Mithras festival which ultimately originated in Sumeria; the Yule log is a pagan Scandinavian tradition marking the lengthening of days.

Take away the christ and christmas is still the christmas everyone recognizes - Santa, presents, a decorated tree, miseltoe toe, yule logs and a big feast.

As a child I never considered Crismas a religious holiday, it was all about the decorated tree, a ton of presents and Santa. As I saw it back then the church was just pathetically trying to ride the coattails of an exciting holiday and insert itself where it did not belong. Little did I know at the time how right I was.

interesting

Priya now says there are dozen of theories

previously, Priya claimed only the pagan theory is true

this is a common fallacy among extremists: if their theory is one of many theories, it must be true

in this case, there is no one who says Boxing Day is pagan

actually, though, many in America have never even heard of it

"Oh, the modern concepts certainly all came from paganism: gift giving, taking a tree inside on the solstice and decorating it came from Saturnalia, Jeremiah 10:2-4 condemns what today are called Christmas trees as 'heathen'; Kissing under mistletoe is a pagan fertility rite (the white berries represent the sperm of Woden); Gift giving is a pagan tradition from the Roman Mithras festival which ultimately originated in Sumeria; the Yule log is a pagan Scandinavian tradition marking the lengthening of days."

all are superficial activities

that you call them concepts reveals your superficiality

they aren't the concepts of Christianity

"Take away the christ and christmas is still the christmas everyone recognizes - Santa, presents, a decorated tree, miseltoe toe, yule logs and a big feast."

who's denying it?

as I said, this is regular topic in Christian sermons

but that kind of "Christmas" regularly tires itself out and needs to be renewed

try watching Charlie Brown's Christmas

Precisely my point - what we know as Crismas has nothing to do with christianity.

I said "Take away the christ and christmas is still the christmas everyone recognizes - Santa, presents, a decorated tree, miseltoe toe, yule logs and a big feast."

who's denying it?

Most christians I know, who, for example, insist its a "christmas" tree when it isn't.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "but that kind of "Christmas" regularly tires itself out and needs to be renewed".

This type of winter solstice celebration has been going on for tens of thousands of years, its never "tired itself out" and never will.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "try watching Charlie Brown's Christmas"

What for?

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "every year, Priya starts making this same post, thinking it somehow demoralizes Christians".

No, I don't think it demoralizes you, my purpose is to remind you that Crismas doesn't belong to you, never did.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "but it just shows that the biblical concept of man's total depravity is true'.

Trying to encourage everyone to make their highest priority maximizing happiness for all in an equal and fair way shows depravity? You'll have to explain that one to me, I don't get it (and I'm sure no one else does either).

There wouldn't be so much evil in the world if christians weren't teaching people they are the lowest of scum who deserve to be eternally tortured, that people have no worth, that only the god in their head matters. When you drill into people that they are hopeless evil wretches how do you expect them to behave like people have value and are worthwhile?

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "it's just another proof of the existence of God"

Me wanting christians to stop their unjust war on women and harmless lgbt people proves god exists? It doesn't take much "proof" for you to believe god exists, does it? Christianity/Islam are socially destructive philosophies that put blind loyalty before fundamental fairness. Religion is a divider, not a uniter.

Asked if he predicts that the “worst is still yet to come,” Fauci said, “I do.” “If you look at the slope, the incline of cases we’ve experienced as we’ve got into the late fall and soon-to-be early winter, it really is quite troubling,” the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said.

"A religion that teaches people are inherently depraved scum devalues human life - that's a major reason for war and violence in the world."

well, actually, Calvinism, a branch of Christianity, teaches that people are "totally" depraved not "inherently" depraved

but to explain the difference to you is beyond the capacity of this blog

again, seek out a pastor to discuss this with in person

also, if you're afraid you won't be able to maintain your point of view in such a conversation, there are myriad books on the subject

here's a tip: don't just read the chapter in the Atheist Guidebook

read a book that promotes a view you don't agree with

then, you can call yourself knowledgeable

additionally, to say that Christians devalue life because of their belief in total depravity is totally detached from reality

Christian believers are disproportionately represented in the pro-life movement

you, on the other hand, favor the idea that a child can be killed at any time before the umbilical cord is cut

"It's part of the reason you "joke" about assaulting, imprisoning, and executing innocent lgbt people."

actually, when I say I was joking about that, that may be an over-simplification

the type of joking I was referring to is rhetorical facetiousness

so, when you, out-of-the-blue, make some ridiculously extreme comment, my tendency is to say something that lets you wallow in the cesspool you've created

the hope is that you will understand how ridiculous you are

of course, at this point, we all see that self-realization is not a trait of yours

"If you were an honest person you'd admit your religion is why you oppose gayness"

I actually haven't opposed homosexuality here as much as I have opposed the notion that government should impose the idea that homosexuality is normal

as a libertarian, I think it should be permitted but lunatic fringe homosexual advocates want society to promote it

that's different than tolerance

"instead of vehemently insisting you have a secular reason like preventing disease as you've been doing. This has been so highly dishonest of you. Honest discussion requires you to defend your religious opposition and admit you're wrong if you can't do that."

actually, honest discussion would involve an objective analysis of the ideas being discussed rather than a constant ignorant assumption about someone's motivation for making any argument you disagree with

you do that because you know your ideas aren't defendible in objective analysis

well, the pastor could provide you with the answers, and give you the conversation you so desperately want, in real time

but, I understand: you fear truth

btw, why do you keep saying "innocent lgbt people"?

as we have established, lgbt people are responsible for incubating and spreading a disease that has killed 36 million people

"Look how you screamed day after day you opposed gays to minimize AIDS and then on Crismas you ONCE admitted your demand to ban gay sex would make things worse."

I never said I "oppose gays to minimize AIDS" or "demanded a ban on gay sex" or "admitted that a ban on gay sex would make things worse"

you simply don't know how to read and you project your misunderstandings on others

I pointed out that the logic used in locking things down to stop COVID would apply to stopping AIDS as well

I actually oppose both

but, it is true that locking citizens in their homes would reduce COVID and a locking gays in their homes would reduce AIDS

but both would represent a violation of civil liberties

and, btw, it is also true that AIDS has primarily spread and been sustained by the irresponsible behavior of gays so they are not "innocent" as Priya says so regularly
"
"You continuously pretended this wasn't about your anti-gay religion when it was"

never discussed personal motivation

that is purely Priya projection

"You continuously pretended you were promoting what was in society's best interest when you knew you weren't."

the elimination of homosexual behavior would be in society's best interest

"If you can justify that kind of behaviour to yourself your morality is deeply wanting and it reflects very badly on your religion."

what kind of behavior?

I can sympathize that he wanted health care workers to have priority but he could have just stated the truth

as it is, his credibility is shot

who know what lie he is saying now to manipulate our behavior?

"Unlike Trump who has mocked and discouraged the use of masks and social distancing since the beginning and continues to do so."

he said mask-wearing should be voluntary at outdoor rallies and that outdoor rallies are not dangerous

which is something the lunatic fringe agrees with when the cause is liberal

defund the police and have a nice safe riot!

"Fauci and Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis at the beginning because it was undesirable gays dying. They made it worse by refusing to act early, just like Trump and COVID."

the fact that we are discussing "Fauci and Reagan" shows he has been in this job too long

lying about mask earlier this year show Fauci hasn't changed from the days when he ignored AIDS

"You knowing this and yet constantly attacking Fauci and praising Trump is proof you care about loyalty to him above doing what is right and best for society. You're loyal to Trump because he's been the most anti-gay president in history and that that makes COVID worse is just fine with you."

actually, I have a number of issues with Trump although he was a better President than I expected

he has protected the Constitution and he produced economic policies that benefited the working class and minorities, in particular

the Russian hoax, the phony impeachment, the smear campaigns against his Supreme Court nominees have all degraded our institutions

Evangelical pastors in California have been fighting the state’s COVID-19 restrictions on houses of worship from the earliest months of the pandemic. These pastors ― and the conservative law firms defending them ― have framed the debate as a matter of religious freedom, claiming that government is discriminating against churches.

In an interview with Christian publication Relevant Magazine published Monday, the evangelical megachurch pastor and popular author suggested that COVID-19 restrictions are about protecting parishioners’ health.

“A lot of churches are nervous about the religious freedom aspect. They don’t want to wear masks. They don’t want to meet outdoors,” Warren said.

Warren pointed out that many sites of large public gatherings ― such as theaters, football games and concerts ― are also facing restrictions. Regal Cinemas had shuttered hundreds of theaters, and Disney has let go of thousands of employees, he said.

“We’re not being discriminated against. This is a safety issue,” he said.

Most Americans (54%) don’t want religious organizations to be exempted from the government’s COVID-19 restrictions, according to a Public Religion Research survey published last week. White evangelical Protestants were by far the religious group most likely to say the opposite ― that churches should be able to hold in-person services even when the government has issued orders restricting social gatherings (75%).

Though some factions of American evangelicalism have urged fellow believers to follow the advice of public health experts, conservative Christian activists have been at the forefront of the movement to have churches reopen without government oversight, claiming that government interference in worship is a violation of their religious liberty. These activists have also claimed that churches are being unfairly discriminated against, since secular businesses such as grocery stores and laundromats have been allowed to remain open. The Supreme Court, with its newly solidified conservative majority, recently threw its weight behind this argument ― even though health experts say comparing churches to grocery stores is misleading.

The pandemic has exposed a “fundamental weakness in the Church,” Warren told Relevant Magazine.

“Most churches only have one purpose: worship. And if you take worship away, you’ve got nothing. They’re in a hurry to get back to worship because that’s all they’ve got.”

Saddleback Church has other purposes, he said ― such as ministry and discipleship. The church has scaled up its food pantry efforts and claims to now have one of Orange County’s largest free grocery distribution programs. Saddleback Church has also created thousands of new online “small groups” ― small fellowships of three or more people who study the Bible together. Warren claims that since March his church has welcomed more than 16,000 new converts, most of whom were drawn in by his members’ “one-on-one evangelizing.”

During the first 10 weeks of 2020, Saddleback Church, a Southern Baptist-affiliated megachurch, drew an average of 30,000 people to its multiple campuses for weekend services. The evangelical church held Easter services online. In June, about the time that dozens of California pastors pledged to reopen their churches regardless of public health guidelines, Warren announced that his church would “be patient and wait for better conditions.”

As of Wednesday, Saddleback’s campuses appear to have adopted various strategies for Christmas ― streaming services online, organizing “drive-in” celebrations and having in-person gatherings outside, requiring attendees to register in advance, stay socially distanced & wear face coverings.

Warren told Relevant Magazine that as a pastor, he is tasked with caring for his flock the way a shepherd cares for his sheep.

“Some churches are willing to gamble the health of their people. I’m not,” Warren said, adding, “I don’t want to be a superspreader. I’m not doing this out of fear; I’m doing this out of love. You wear a mask for love [of] your neighbors, yourself.”

"You don't have to be stupid to be religious"

yes, that's just what I've been saying and getting a bunch of crap from TTFers for

"Evangelical pastors in California have been fighting the state’s COVID-19 restrictions on houses of worship from the earliest months of the pandemic. These pastors ― and the conservative law firms defending them ― have framed the debate as a matter of religious freedom, claiming that government is discriminating against churches."

the discrimination part comes from applying a definition of worship as "non-essential" while deeming all kinds of commercial activity as "essential"

"“A lot of churches are nervous about the religious freedom aspect.

This is a safety issue,” he said."

the problem is they don't let churches figure out safety protocols

the government sets up blanket rules without any deviance as if government officials are any more concerned about safety than church leaders

"Most Americans (54%) don’t want religious organizations to be exempted from the government’s COVID-19 restrictions, according to a Public Religion Research survey published last week. White evangelical Protestants were by far the religious group most likely to say the opposite ― that churches should be able to hold in-person services even when the government has issued orders restricting social gatherings (75%)."

both of these questions are vague

most churches held services outside until the weather got cold

when they moved inside, they required masks, hand sanitizer before coming in, distanced sitting to every other pew for family pods and, even then, only allowed a third of the pew to be taken up, alternating the sides

for that matter, the outside services were distanced too

they have streamed the services for those who are in vulnerable groups, or anyone else uncomfortable

other than worship, all other meetings: prayer, Bible study, elders, Sunday School are held online

most are collecting food, and lots of it, for the unemployed

there is no evidence that governmental oversight is needed

“Most churches only have one purpose: worship. And if you take worship away, you’ve got nothing. They’re in a hurry to get back to worship because that’s all they’ve got.”

Warren is wrong about that, although I suppose it depends how you define “Most churches"

"Saddleback Church has also created thousands of new online “small groups” ― small fellowships of three or more people who study the Bible together."

most churches already had small groups before this and they went online for the duration

pretty sure that was true at Saddleback as well

"Warren told Relevant Magazine that as a pastor, he is tasked with caring for his flock the way a shepherd cares for his sheep."

so why are you saying the government should be doing it?

“Some churches are willing to gamble the health of their people. I’m not,” Warren said, adding, “I don’t want to be a superspreader. I’m not doing this out of fear; I’m doing this out of love. You wear a mask for love [of] your neighbors, yourself.”

here's a tip, Rick:

speak for yourself and stop talking about "some churches"

then, if you stop judging others, maybe you won't be judged

also, it seems to me that rates were going down and all Americans were cooperating together to overcome the pandemic until BLM protests took off and the government acquiesced in daily demonstrations that went on for months, including three huge indoor funerals for the the guy killed by the racist cop in Wisconsin whom a Dem administration tolerated

"its up to you to come back in compliance first by renouncing your war on lgbt people"

I've never been at war with lgbt people

I know many and we get along fine

I don't believe they should receive special protections with discrimination laws

and I believe people have right to think homosexuality is strange and distance themselves from it

I don't believe school children should be indoctrinated with the idea that homosexuality is normal

if you can't find a way to co-exist with people that think those things, you're the problem

See, there's that dishonesty again, claiming gays receive special protections with discrimination laws when its the other way around, christians are more broadly protected by anti-discrimination laws than gays. How can I have a good faith debate with you when you insist in repeating such gross distortions of reality?

I don't care how you think, the problem is you try to change the law to enforce your beliefs on others by wanting to ban gay marriage, to allow churches paid by the government to discriminate when delivering government services, to have the law ban me from the women's bathroom, deny me the right to change my name or gender on my birth certificate. on my documentation, by letting christians be protected by anti-discrimination laws but not lgbt people (and then you deceitfully to that or the right to marry as "special rights".

You're idea of co-existence is that you promote laws that make our lives as difficult as possible while we stand by and watch. That's not co-existence. You want to co-exist you have to stop promoting a society that oppresses us.

December 28, 2020 12:53 PM

And you've ALWAYS been at war with lgbt people, look how you "joke" about assaulting, imprisoning, and executing us. Look how you ranted about how gayness should be banned to stop AIDS and then only on Crismas admitted you weren't serious about that, that you were just lying about that being a good idea to make some rhetorical point. That's a war on lgbt people and that's what you've done the entire year up until Crismas eve.

Don't lie to me and say you've never been at war with lgbt people. Renounce that war, stop opposing gay marriage, stop asking for christian exemptions to anti-discrimination laws, stop advocating we be banned from using women's public bathrooms, stop trying to turn society against us.

"I believe people have right to think h*sexuality is strange and distance themselves from itÈ.

No, in a society where our highest priority is to maximize the happiness for all in an equal and fair way you don't get to "distance yourself"/oppress lgbt people who aren't hurting anyone. Coexistence means you don't do that. You don't want to coexist. If you want to co-exist you have to accept everyone who isn't hurting others.

"I don't believe school children should be indoctrinated with the idea that h*sexuality is normal".

Just like with the pandemic, we have to go with the best science that is available to us. And that is that gayness IS normal and natural and setting unrealistic boundaries to suppress it makes disease rates worse and needlessly damages lgbt people and the broader society. Its best for society if we teach children that gayness is normal and natural for a minority of the population.

Coexistence means balance of rights, you oppose that. Renounce your war on innocent lgbt people

And again, you did not mention any specifics of where my comments weren't civil and responsible.

And speaking of "civil and responsible" discussion, polls on gay marriage showed people were more supportive of gays marrying than they were of homosexuals marrying. The religious right knows the word "h*sexual" is a slur like the N-word and so they use that to promote societal hatred towards innocent lgbt people. That is why I ask people to never refer to "h*sexuality" or "h*sexuals" but rather to use "gays" and gayness". If you converse with me and refer to use the H-word you are being intentionally offensive.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous, constantly using the H-word to be offensive IS waging war on gays.

I didn't give a fair response to that earlier, so let me address it again.

Does that make sense, that rejecting christianity proves humans are "totally depraved"? No, of course not, there are good and rational reasons for rejecting any religion. People don't rationally choose their religions, they're indoctrinated into religion where they live. Humans are essentially a social and cooperative species. On the whole we've done more good for each other than bad to each other - humans are most certainly not "totally depraved". That biblical teaching is destructive for humanity, how do christians and muslims expect people to value human life when they teach humans are inherently evil and totally depraved? No wonder suicide bombers think its okay to kill for their religion.

Why should any woman care about aborting a fetus when that fetus is inherently evil, totally depraved and will be born evil?

Sure:

This week, health officers in San Diego are warning parishioners of COVID-19 outbreaks at three separate campuses of the Awaken Church.

They have advised anyone attending services at the locations between November 15 and November 22 to get tested, quarantine, and watch for COVID-19 symptoms.

As of Wednesday, San Diego County had tied 64 cases to the three outbreaks.

“We continue to implore the public of the very real danger of indoor religious services, the danger of the spread, and of the increase in cases and what it can lead to,” San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said at a news conference.

California is not alone.

North Carolina health officials are investigating an outbreak that began last month at the United House of Prayer for All People in Charlotte and spread to the community.

So far, more than 200 people have tested positive, and 12 have died.

Massachusetts epidemiologists have tied 36 COVID-19 clusters and 316 confirmed cases to places of worship in that state since the beginning of the pandemic.

Last month, more than 200 confirmed COVID-19 cases were traced to the Crossroads Community Church in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

In total, 78 members attended the March 3 practice, and 61 attended the March 10 practice (Table 1). Overall, 51 (65.4%) of the March 3 practice attendees became ill; all but one of these persons also attended the March 10 practice. Among 60 attendees at the March 10 practice (excluding the patient who became ill March 7, who also attended), 52 (86.7%) choir members subsequently became ill. Some members exclusively attended one practice; among 21 members who only attended March 3, one became ill and was not tested (4.8%), and among three members who only attended March 10, two became ill (66.7%), with one COVID-19 case being laboratory-confirmed..."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Another person linked to convocation events at the United House of Prayer for All People has died from the coronavirus.

In all, three people linked to the event have died.

There are 82 confirmed cases linked to the super spreader events and one cluster of eight residents at a senior living community, Madison Saints Paradise South Senior Living. The county has attempted to contact 131 close contacts of the confirmed cases.

Thursday, the county held a free drive thru testing event at the Health Department on Beatties Ford Road, near the church. The church would not hold a testing event on its property. At least 127 individuals were tested at the event.

The church held convocation events from October 4 until October 11. County health officials say at least 1,000 people attended. Guidance put out by NCDHHS said places of worship should limit indoor capacity at 100 people per room and ensure enough social distancing. Masks are encouraged and choirs are not supposed to sing.

“When a lot of people get together, it's very difficult to ensure people are actually maintaining the 6 feet distance. It’s important to not just wear the mask but to also keep the distance,” said Dr. Raynard Washington, the Deputy Director of the Mecklenburg County Health Department.

The numbers will likely continue to rise. They are urging anyone who went to the events or was in contact with someone who did to isolate and get tested.

"I'm encouraging everyone in our community, if you receive a phone call from one of our contact tracers please give us a call back, please answer the phone and please cooperate," said Washington.

There will be another testing event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday October 23 at 2845 Beatties Ford Road.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "additionally, to say that Christians devalue life because of their belief in total depravity is totally detached from reality".

Its true on the face of it. If you think people are inherently evil and totally depraved it necessarily follows that killing them would be no moral loss.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "Christian believers are disproportionately represented in the pro-life movement"

Christians are disproporionately represented in those who favour the death penalty. Christians don't oppose abortion because they're "pro-life", they oppose it because they want to control and punish women for having sex.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "you, on the other hand, favor the idea that a child can be killed at any time before the umbilical cord is cut".

A filthy lie on your part!

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "why do you keep saying "innocent lgbt people"? as we have established, lgbt people are responsible for incubating and spreading a disease that has killed 36 million people".

Wyatt/Regina/ bad anonymous said "but, it is true that locking citizens in their homes would reduce COVID and a locking gays in their homes would reduce AIDS".

Its practical for people to stay home temporarily, it is not practical or possible to lock gays up for a lifetime

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "and, btw, it is also true that AIDS has primarily spread and been sustained by the irresponsible behavior of gays so they are not "innocent" as Priya says so regularly".

Beyotch, please! You've regularly said "Priya makes that [anti-religion] post because she doesn't like biblical sexual morality." Its blindingly obvious you oppose gays because of your religion, its just so dishonest of you not to admit that. You pretend to be more moral than gays and then try to hide your real motivations for hating them, so hypocritical!

I said "You continuously pretended you were promoting what was in society's best interest when you knew you weren't."

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "the elimination of h*sexual behavior would be in society's best interest".

Evolution created gayness in thousands of species including humans. Gay men relieve the pressure of sex and pregnancy on women, they maintain a balance in society. Gay men participate in the sexual partner selection process resulting in selection for genetic traits that are more varied and successful for offspring. Trying to eliminate a fundamental part of humanity is impossible and results in higher disease rates.

I said "If you can justify that kind of behaviour to yourself your morality is deeply wanting and it reflects very badly on your religion."

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "what kind of behavior?"

Where you go on and on about how we should ban gay sex to reduce AIDS (it actually makes it worse) and then on December 24, 2020 2:45 PM admit you were lying and said "I don't think we should lock down gay sex". That kind of dishonest behavior reflects very badly on you and your religion.

Wyatt/Regina/bad anonymous said "and I have never professed on particular religious belief here".

Riiiiigght, like when you went on about how Jesus was the most influential person in history and how everything on Crismas not to do with christianity is superficial and unimportant, or how christians shouldn't be prevented from proselytizing while delivering government services, how you defended Amy Barrett when she said she saw her job as a judge to be "bringing about the kingdom of god".

This is what I mean by your constant dishonesty. Stop claiming you've "never professed on particular religious belief", you've done so time and time again. You've made your anti-gay christianity obvious time and time again and its deceitful for you to pretend that's not your motivation for wanting to harm innocent lgbt people. When you constantly, as you do, advocate for christian superiority in the law you're screaming that you're a christian, you're lying about "not having expressed a particular belief".

Yes, you did.

On December 24th you admitted you didn't believe in the lockdowns on gay sex you were previously repeatedly demanding to supposedly lower the HIV rate:

"I don't think we should lock down gay sex. My only point was that the current indiscriminate lockdowns don't make sense, for the same reason."

In this thread you said "Having broken societal taboos against sexual activity with those of their own gender, it's hard for [gays] to think of any compelling reason to follow any of society's other little rules [against promiscuity]."

Those two comments were an admission on your part that banning gay sex is an unrealistic boundary that will result in gays being more promiscuous.

McMillen and the ACLU sued her school district, and a federal court found the Itawamba School District guilty of violating McMillen's First Amendment rights.[3] However, the judge did not force the school district to reinstate the prom.

Furthermore, McMillen was in fact sent to a fake prom attended by only seven students, two of whom had learning disabilities. The fake prom was held at a country club while the "real" prom, organized by parents, was held at a secret location.

Clearly if you were trying to reduce HIV transmission you'd encourage gays to marry and be monogamous rather than setting the unrealistic boundary of never having sex. Wyatt/Regina made that link themselves in this thread when they said "Having broken societal taboos against sexual activity with those of their own gender, it's hard for [gays] to think of any compelling reason to follow any of society's other little rules [against promiscuity]."

You're not honest about it and we need honesty on this if we are to have a rational discussion on how to minimize harm and have the best possible world. It is immoral for you to be often denying your religious motivations.

As we can see, you have no secular arguments to support trying to force gayness "into society's shadows" thus making things worse for everyone.

Promoting the social rejection of gays is destructive to gays in particular and society in general. Any person with secular motivations should have no problem agreeing with this demonstrated truth.

I don't know and it doesn't matter. What matters is trying to mimimize the promiscuity and harm from those who don't live monogamously. The way you do that is not by setting unrealistic boundaries that make people seek out anonymous sex with multiple partners in order to keep their gayness a secret.

Banning gay marriage raises HIV rates

You cannot claim to be unmoved by religion and oppose gay marriage. There is no secular reason to oppose gay marriage.

And if the reason to oppose gays is to minimize the spread of HIV, why oppose lesbianism? Lesbians have lower rates of HIV infection than heterosexual couples.

Like I say, anonymous's refusal to admit religion motivates their desire to harm innocent lgbt people is made clear by their opposition to lesbianism despite their sexual behaviour being the safest of all couples.

I'm open to the idea that homosexuals are not to blame for all the deaths but I need to hear the rationale for that and some estimate of how many they are responsible for

"I don't know and it doesn't matter."

then, why does it matter how many people have gotten COVID in church?

it's definitely fewer people and COVID is less deadly, by far, than AIDS

yet, you were thanking "good anonymous" for getting to the bottom of it

yet, you propose no laws to hinder homosexuals from engaging in unsafe behavior

but churches have to be shut down

why not just say we need minimize church gatherings that are unsafe without making any laws to restrict religious behavior?

you're caught in a web of contradictions

"There is no secular reason to oppose gay marriage."

actually, homosexual marriage serves no purpose

heterosexual marriage creates life

that's just secular purpose right there

"actually, homosexual marriage serves no purpose"

Homosexual marriage serves the same purposes is does for heterosexual marriages - providing a legal framework for the protection of family wealth and assets, like the home when a partner dies, and identifies the lines of inheritance for children, step-children, and adopted children. Marriage partners are also the first in line for medical care decisions in hospitals for accidents or long-term illness.

Your continued insistence that it serves "no purpose" highlights either your complete ignorance of the topic, or your continued belligerence towards LGBT people, or both.

Anonymous said "I'm open to the idea that h*sexuals are not to blame for all the deaths but I need to hear the rationale for that and some estimate of how many they are responsible for

There's no need to hear how many people are responsible for when you can't change that. We need to focus on preventing future infections, not assigning blame for the past.
Worldwide, the majority of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections result from heterosexual transmission.1

I previously said"I don't know and it doesn't matter."

Anonymous said "then, why does it matter how many people have gotten COVID in church it's definitely fewer people and COVID is less deadly, by far, than AIDS"

No, its not fewer people and COVID is not less deadly, most people with HIV now have a normal life expectancy with proper treament. You're comparing all the people that have died from HIV in history with all the people that have died from COVID in less than a year - its a highly dishonest comparison.

I said "What matters is trying to mimimize the promiscuity and harm from those who don't live monogamously. The way you do that is not by setting unrealistic boundaries that make people seek out anonymous sex with multiple partners in order to keep their gayness a secret."

Anonymous said "yet, you propose no laws to hinder homosexuals from engaging in unsafe behavior but churches have to be shut down".

You were proposing "shutting down gay sex" for all time. That's not realistic and the attempt raises HIV rates. A temporary cessation of church services is perfectly reasonable until this is under control. Not going to church is trivial compared to being forced to separate from your life long partner forever. The problem for your credibility is you oppose all same sex sex, including amongst lesbians and monogamous couples which is the safest of all rather than just opposing promiscuity. You have no explanation for this contradiction other than a bigoted religion.

Anopnymous said "actually, h*sexual marriage serves no purpose heterosexual marriage creates life that's just secular purpose right there the perpetuating of the human race".

Gay marriage lowers the HIV rate amongst gays, makes gay couples happier and more productive and that benefits everyone. That's reason enough not to ban gay marriage. Human population growth is out of control and threatens our survival, that heterosexual sex results in pregnancy is not a valid reason to ban gay marriage.

I said "And if the reason to oppose gays is to minimize the spread of HIV, why oppose lesbianism? Lesbians have lower rates of HIV infection than heterosexual couples."

"h*sexuality is inherently promiscuous and super-spreading"

"last year alone, 700,000 people globally died of AIDS: why has been no lockdowns on h*sexual activity?"

Over and over you asserted the reason to oppose gayness was to minimize the spread of HIV and now you deceitfully try to claim you never said that.

Conservatives compartmentalize contradictory thoughts so they can believe two things that contradict each other. It's dishonest but lets them feel better about their unjust war on harmless lgbt people.

Ramussen Quotes Stalin In Bid For Pence To Stop Biden

The Hill reports:

Republican-leaning pollster Rasmussen invoked a quote attributed to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in a Twitter thread Sunday suggesting Vice President Pence could attempt to overturn the results of the presidential election.

Supporters of President Trump have made similar arguments that Pence, as president of the Senate, has the power to reject Electoral College results.

However, the theory is based on a misreading of U.S. code that simply authorizes the vice president to call on states to submit their electoral votes if they do not do so by the fourth Wednesday in December, according to The Washington Post.
---------------------

" (Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything. – Stalin) Come January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence will be presented with the sealed certificates containing the ballots of the presidential electors. At that moment, the Presidency will be in his hands. And there is nothing stopping Pence, under the (plenary and unappealable) authority vested in him as President of the Senate, from declining to open and count the certificates from the six disputed states.
If they are (as more than 70% of Republicans believe) certificates from non-electors appointed via voter fraud, why should he open & count them?” If the votes of all 7 contested states are registered as zero, President Trump will have 232 votes, Joe Biden will have 222. Per the 12th Amendment: “[T]he votes shall then be counted[.] … The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President[.]”" — Rasmussen Reports (@Rasmussen_Poll) December 27, 2020

"Oh, look: here’s a polling company doing their part to subvert democracy, violate the Constitution, and pander to the most corrupt man ever to squat in our @WhiteHouse. If anyone ever believed @Rasmussen_Poll was an unbiased source of objective polling, think again." — Lorraine Devon Wilke (@LorraineDWilke) December 28, 2020

"Rasmussen Reports is telling Mike Pence to take some tips from Josef Stalin on how to steal an election. This is the absolute state of American conservatism. " — Matthew Sheffield (@mattsheffield) December 28, 2020

Evangelical Christian Bigot Franklin Graham: “Rally God’s Army” In Georgia Or Else The “Wicked” Democrats Will Impose The LGBTQ Equality Act

December 28, 2020 Christianists, Hate Groups

Posted to Facebook just now by Franklin Graham:

"Many people believe the presidential election was stolen from Donald J. Trump, and if conservatives lose control of the Senate, there is nothing to stop the radical agenda of the left."
This claim was fully heard(and more) in court and there is no evidence to support it. It is immoral of Graham to repeat it.

"Why are these two seats so important? The control of the U.S. Senate is at stake. The Senate is the last line of defense to block the radical, wicked agenda that is trying to take control of our nation.".

There is nothing radical or wicked about harmless lgbt people having the same rights as everyone else - no special rigths for christians!

"The policies supported by those on the left promise to be openly hostile to those who hold Christian beliefs.".

That's a lie. Polices we support oppose making gays second class citizens under the law, they are not hostile to christian beliefs unless your christian beliefs are nothing more than a naked desire to harm innocent lgbt people.

"Liberal, so called progressives, immediately want to pass The Equality Act which is anything but equal.".

No, it is equality. You demand the right to ignore anti-discrimination laws that protect gays while gays have to follow anti-discrimination laws that protect christians. YOU oppose equality, not us.

"It is an attempt to rid our country of religious freedom protections."

You define "religious freedom" as the right to force society to discriminate against lgbt people. You don't have that right, the Constitution requires that all be treated equally. Allowing gays the same rights as everyone else deprives anti-gay religious people of nothing of significance while denying gays equal rights greatly harms gays. It is not a fair balancing of rights for christians to greatly harm gays just because it gives them a trivial psychological thrill to do so.

"Friends, this is dangerous. This would change our nation at its very foundation—and yes, it would also greatly change your everyday life.".

You lie, allowing gays to have equal rights is a trivial insignificant imposition on the anti-gay believer that has no real effect on his/her day to day life. Democracy requires that rights be fairly balanced. That means you don't cause real significant harm to one person for no real benefit to another.

"It will vastly alter the America that we leave for our children and grandchildren."

You lie - it will be a trivial change to the world of anti-gay heterosexuals and a gigantic improvement for harmless lgbt people. The Equality Act means justice for all.

In a fair and just society there can be no pressure not to be gay or to hide the normality of gayness from the public. Franklin Graham and evangelical christians are making the world a worse place for all with their defining religious freedom as the right to force the law to discriminate against lgbt people.

LONDON, Dec 16 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Almost 400 global religious leaders, including anti-apartheid campaigner Desmond Tutu and Britain’s Bishop of Liverpool, called on Wednesday for countries to overturn bans on same-sex relations and end LGBT+ conversion therapy.

Sixty-nine United Nations member states still outlaw gay sex, according to the 2020 State-Sponsored Homophobia report released by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA World) on Tuesday.

Only Brazil, Ecuador, Malta and Germany have instituted forms of nationwide bans on conversion therapy, which aims to alter a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

Organized by the Ozanne Foundation charity, the declaration has been signed by faith leaders from 35 countries, including representatives of the world’s main religions, and former Irish President Mary McAleese, a prominent member of the Roman Catholic Church.

The announcement, which marks the launch of the Global Interfaith Commission on LGBT+ Lives, will be made on Wednesday at a virtual conference of global faith representatives funded by Britain’s foreign ministry (FCDO).

Wendy Morton, Britain’s junior foreign minister, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation that the declaration marked “an important step towards equality.”

“We fully support its call to end violence, discrimination and the ongoing criminalization of same-sex conduct in 69 countries,” she said in emailed comments, describing conversion therapy as “an abhorrent practice and should be stopped.”

CULPABLE

McAleese said the joint statement represented “a small step towards countering (homophobia).”

“But it’s a necessary step to remind the faith systems of the world and people of faith that they have an obligation to their fellow citizens who are also entitled to the full dignity of their humanity and their full equal human rights,” she said.

The declaration also acknowledges “with profound regret” that religious teachings through the centuries have “caused and continue to cause deep pain and offense to those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex.”

Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, former senior rabbi to ReformJudaism - which groups 41 independent synagogues - said the statement was partly about acknowledging that “our religions ...still have a lot that we are culpable for.”

“It would be lovely to say it has nothing to do with us, but our religious traditions have driven conversion therapy, particularly,” she added.

To date, the declaration has been signed by religious leaders including Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims.

“I think the Muslim community is ready for this conversation,” said Imam Muhsin Hendricks, who founded the Masjidul Ghurbaah Mosque in Cape Town, South Africa, one of the world’s few LGBT-inclusive mosques.

“I’m currently training with six imams from different parts of Africa and the openness to look at this issue (is incredible),” he said.

“I’m really amazed and excited because 10 years ago this kind of training with imams was not possible. So I do think the community is ready.”

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat, has an ongoing demand for his Republican counterpart in Texas: Where’s my money?

Last month, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick offered a $1 million to “incentivize, encourage and reward” people for reports of voter fraud in Texas.

Although President Donald Trump triumphed in Texas in the November election, Patrick’s offer apparently aimed to buttress baseless and false claims by Trump and his allies of mass voter fraud in other key states that Democrat Joe Biden carried in winning the White House.

In one of those states ― Pennsylvania ― a high-profile case emerged in which a man admitted to illegally casting a ballot for Trump in the name of his dead mother. The suspect also registered his dead mother-in-law to vote, with the intention of casting another ballot for the president. A similar case surfaced in the state in which a man soght to vote for Trump through his deceased mom.

Fetterman has been pressing his assertion that these cases should qualify him for Patrick’s jackpot. He’s been trolling Patrick on Twitter asking for the loot, saying he would donate it to food banks in his state.

He really threw out all of the stops on Monday, going after Patrick in a bitter Twitter thread that included lots of “Family Guy” references.

Fetterman told The Houston Chronicle his trolling campaign against Patrick is partly meant to discredit the unfounded contentions that the election was rigged, claims that court after court across the nation have rejected.

He also admitted that he has been amused by the Pennsylvania voter fraud cases that involved Trump supporters.

“While it’s undoubtedly and undeniably hilarious these cases involved Trump voters and their dead mothers, it’s irrelevant because it documents how truly rare voter fraud is and how impossible it is to truly pull it off,” Fetterman told the newspaper.

this phrase keeps coming up and it's hard to see how anyone says it with a straight face

homosexuals are far from harmless

untold millions have died of AIDS, a disease these harmless folks knowingly incubated and spread through unsafe practices, which continue even when the risk of COVID is added to other reasons that random promiscuity is so dangerous

to add insult to injury, they pushed though privacy provisions in HIPPA that basically allow then to continue to spread AIDS without warning their partners

which also makes tracing more difficult for other diseases, including COVID

that's a lot of harm caused by these so-called harmless people!
