Threatened, Gotta Cut Back

What is it like to be so cowardly that you have to threaten somebody's livelihood in order to make sure they don't express themselves on the Internet?

Where I work, there's no problem with using the computers to a moderate degree for personal business, and I am allowed more free time during the day than I spend on this. But who needs their boss getting calls from weirdos?

Some lovely person has emailed me, threatening to cause trouble for me at work if I post here during the day.

My personal life is not part of this, I keep quiet about myself. But let me say, besides raising two teenagers I do a lot of things during the day. I work in survey methods and am also a pioneer of sorts in a particular field of artificial intelligence. I manage a team of software developers, and stay up to date on technological stuff not only on the Internet but new hardware and software computing paradigms, programming techniques and statistical techniques. I publish in psychology and computer-science journals. I wrote a book about my research that sold quite well and Michael Crichton recently based one of his novels partly on my ideas (it wasn't the one about global warming). I play in a band, am learning Spanish, and can throw a knuckleball that you'll never hit.

I don't just sit at the computer wasting time playing with Blogger, in other words.

And here I am dealing with people who have to bring you down however they can.

OK, I won't blog in the daytime.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

--Sorry, this is more than I intended to say on the subject.

Gotta figure if one cannot win on the arguments then they get personal and into things that are NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

Well Jim, how does it feel to be so important to someone that they care enough about you to make sure you are not OVERBLOGGING?

Goes to show you that you were certainly bothering someone with your creative blogs and told more truth than that person could stand.

Jealousy reared its ugly head.

Guess we had all better watch out.

Thats Bullshit. You cant back down from these chickenshit brainwashed religious fanatics dude.

Can you tell where he works from his IP address?

E-mail me what you know about this blackmailing coward, and I will see how he likes being on the receiving end of threats.

Whoever you are, I am sure your reading this, If I hear that you followed through with this threat to my friend, I will do everything I can to make you regret being such a chickenshit.

RT, is that you, man? A little bit of Redneck Justice just might be appropriate here... stay tuned.

Theresa, of course your side thinks I give them a boost. If I say, for instance, "Homosexuality is not a disease," my side goes, duh, of course it's not a disease, and your side says, It's an aberration and a sin and goes against God and nature, I'd better send that guy another chapter from the Book of Revelations to prove it. (Yes, we do get your mail.)

It's a simple matter of polarization. Any bit of news strengthens the polarity ... it's human nature.

So how does it go from here? One of two ways, as usual. Jerry Falwell's lawyers might be able to continue outsmarting the MCPS lawyers, and win something in court through the process of judicial bafflement. Or it might become an issue for the people of the county to decide. First case, you win, second case, we do.

Poor Anon..at least some sign their own names. Try it sometime.

"Pa-leeze!"

Funny thing EXRecall (CRC) folks love the TTF blog..but cannot post to their own. Hey, that's not fair! Is that discriminatory?

Now exactly why would anyone assume Jim's "threat" was not from ExRecall (CRC) member?

That would be a broad leap. Now where did I hear that before??????

>>>>Hmmm... maybe the high powered very expensive law firm that the BOE just hired to fight a LOCAL parents group didn't like what you were saying and just maybe your own side has decided to try and shut you down....immediately.<<<<<

Is PFOX a "LOCAL parents group"..?

Did anyone in this universe think that BOE/MCPS would be bullied into meeting with ExRecall (CRC) and company?

Why should anyone be surprised that another law firm would be brought in? They will be fighting for what many local parents want including the wants of their client MCPS/BOE. This fight will be for the long haul and through many rounds of appeals.

What is the score card for MCPS/BOE in those instances?

Interesting, Theresa. You "think" TTF's posts help your side. From what I read in the press, I know for a fact that your side's actions have created several backlashes. Examples include Ms. Jamison's letters with the prepaid postage postcards, your uninvited presence at PTSA meetings and questionable use of PTSA directories, the March 19 town hall hatefest ("Guilty as charged. I am spreading hate and fear." Don Dwyer, CRC Speaker), and finally this last minute lawsuit. Keep it up!

Joyful Noise

As I recall, there was a lot of hay made when posters on CRC's forums (I didn't read them b/c I didn't know of CRC or the controversy at the time) posted threatening things. The people who did so were not CRC members, as I recall, but TTF and others have used those comments as ammunition against CRC. Makes sense to turn off comments so it can't happen again.

I'm glad to see a similar thing hasn't happened here, or at least that Jim is good about deleting the abusive ones.

And Jim, if your workplace has a lenient policy on using the internet (as mine does, happily), then keep on blogging.

Are you saying the Crichton based Swarm partly on your ideas? That's pretty cool.

"Last minute lawsuit"?

You mean the fact that they literally waited until the last minute before the curriculum was to be started before they filed a suit? I would think that's a good thing. Should they have just gone ahead and filed it right off the bat?

Actually, Jim, "our" side does not say that homosexuality is a disease. That's an argument you made up because it makes it sound like those "chickenshit brainwashed religious fanatics" think homosexuality is caused by a virus.

Gleeful, I am taking you at your word and trusting that you're not going to harrass me at work as threatened. I am not in violation of any regulations here, not even close. I consulted with my supervisor and with legal staff here, and there is no question. I still don't want a bunch of nuts calling my boss, though.

The book is not called "Swarm," it's called "Prey." Nuff about that, I'm not interested in talking about me.

The whole "ex-gay" thing is based on the idea of curing homosexuality. Your side lives for it.

Say what?

Oh, I see. You've got only a handful of people who comment here, and I've mentioned your job in comments (not all of which you deleted, by the way) so it must be me.

Look out, cillygoose and Theresa. He'll be accusing you next.
